But if those you decided to follow are not producing good content, then why should we continue to follow? There is also the option to mute which is not quite a full unfollow, so far I choose to do that with accounts that are not providing content worth my time or upvotes. If you are followed it is your chance to show us why, give us a reason to continue to follow or risk being un followed. Many unfollow because our feed becomes unmanageable with high follow rates, we decide to concentrate on worth our while content. We all have a right to do that.

Of course, everyone has the right to unfollow. The question here is not about unfollowing. It is about the using follow - unfollow tactic to gain followers. 35,000 unfollows in 24 hrs is not practical for a normal user!

I agree, there are a lot of accounts running software (bots). That would sure be a lot of typing to unfollow 35,000 in a day if a real human was doing the unfollowing. The tactic is a carry over from the old style social media giants, unfortunately.
