When I first joined steemit a year ago, I really didn't understand it or know what to expect. I knew you could create content and get paid. I thought I could just through up some content and make a little money. I never thought I would be so captivated by some of the posts, some of the people and their knowledge, and the fascination I now have with this community. I plan on being here for the long haul because I keep learning everyday!

I was pretty suspicious at the start-- skeptical. I've been parts of LOTS of "content communities that reward" and they all turned up... dead; or they died very quickly. I did NOT expect the level of community and connection I found here... as a result of which, I have now been actively blogging for over six months... for the first time since 2005. This place keeps surprising me... the *community* keeps surprising me... with the way people rally together and take care of problems. Now it's the spammers and copy-pasta merchants; for the first time I think there's a group actually capable of extinguishing a threat that's otherwise a *known* site killer.
