We will be making notifications about own mentions, transfers, upvotes, replies etc. Good Idea about favorite Authors, too. Will add that to the list. 

Wanted to ask about suggested friend list. Do you mean something like searching your contacts for possible friends on Steemit or Friend list based on your interests?

Friend List based on interest . This way Steemians cam easily find content or other Steemians that share the same interest. More like a Pinterest vibe mixed with Tumblr. Example...Pinterest send a notification saying based on your pins(post) or content repinned these Post/Boards/accounts may interest you. 

Currently on STEEM I'm have to dig deeeeep for quality content that interest me the most and Authors I want to support blogs or .... but I don't have a buddy list easily accessible to . Hopefully your app can fix this issue .
