I'm bringing Mario+Rabbids back again because I'm currently playing through the Donkey Kong Adventure DLC that was released on 26 June 2018! So far it's been amazing; the graphics, battles and puzzles do not disappoint, but I'll get into that in another post.

Today we're here to talk about the Multiplayer modes available in the main game! There are 2 multiplayer modes: the Buddydome (Co-op) as well as a newer Versus mode that was released on 8 Dec 2017, in a free update.

<strong>1) Buddydome</strong>
At the end of the first half of World 1 (which is basically the tutorial) you'll unlock the Buddydome! This Co-op mode is relatively short and you unlock missions as you progress through the single player campaign. In co-op missions, you and a friend each control 2 heroes (cannot be duplicates) to complete a certain objective, similar to the single player campaign. You can switch turns between each other anytime, or pass to the enemies.

The heroes you choose will have the exact same settings (weapons, techniques, etc.) as the ones in your selected save file (you have to enter that save file to go to the Buddydome). However, you will not be able to access the Battle HQ in the Buddydome itself, so you will have to exit if you want to switch any weapons or skills around. Do note that the enemies in Buddydome also scale in difficulty as you progress through the campaign, since your heroes get stronger and have better weapons and skills.

I haven't finished all of the co-op challenges yet, but those I've played are actually pretty fun! It's nice to work together with a friend, although there is some downtime when you're busy strategizing during your turn since there's no time limit. Overall, I think it's a pretty neat way to make an otherwise single player game multiplayer.

<strong>2) Versus</strong>
The Versus mode is super fun as well! Here's a trailer:

In Versus, you and a friend will control 3 heroes each (can be duplicates). Unlike the Buddydome, the Versus mode is separate from the campaign, so you will not have access to the weapons and techniques you unlocked. Instead, you have set unlockable loadouts with varying skills. Also unlike the campaign and co-op, the Versus mode restricts each player to just three actions per turn. So you may be accustomed to moving, attacking, and using techniques for each of your heroes during every turn in the campaign and co-op, but now you have to split 3 of any of those actions between your 3 heroes.

There are different items you can pick up by collecting item boxes if you toggle items on. These items can give you an extra movement/technique/attack, extra hp (if it's a mushroom) or Super Chance (which gives your attack 100% super effect).

There are also different settings; time, turn limits and Showtime; which triggers special items after a certain number of turns.

Tbh I've only played a few Versus matches, but they've all been quite intense! I'd say it's a bit like chess, where you have to predict your opponent's moves and/or attacks, but there is also some RNG involved with super effects and items. The 3 action restriction takes some getting used to, especially if you've played through the whole game like me, being as efficient as possible with maaany actions in 1 turn. If you adjust the time limit per turn to be 30 seconds or even 10 seconds long, your game will be short but veeeery stressful. I'd recommend playing around with different settings, party members and character types to really give your matches some variety.
