The New York Mets are finally healthy for a change and are off to a hot start.  They romped the Nationals in Washington, 8-2, on Thursday to improve to 5-1 on the young season.  For the Nats, it's their third straight loss after starting 4-0.  
<hr>
Right-fielder Jay Bruce led the way for the Mets, going 2 for 4 with a double, home run, and 4 RBIs.  Yoenis Cespedes also went yard for the Mets, who got two runs in the 5th and four in the 7th to break an early 2-2 tie.

Starter Jake deGrom was once again terrific, getting his second win of the season, going 6 innings while allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run.  He walked 3 and struckout 5.  It was an efficient outing as deGrom exited after having thrown just 86 pitches.  Four relievers combined to keep the Nationals scoreless in the final three innings.

On the other side, Anthony Rendon went 3 for 3 with a RBI for the Nationals.  He had 3 of the Nats' 6 hits in the game as the rest of the lineup had trouble generating any offense.  Stephen Strasburg went 6 innings as well for Washington, but surrendered 4 earned runs, giving up 2 homers while walking 2 and striking out 6 for his first loss of the season.

In other action, an anticipated pitcher's duel between All-Stars Robbie Ray and Adam Wainwright in St. Louis, at least partially lived up to the expectations.  Ray went 6 innings for the Diamondbacks and surrendered just 2 hits and 1 run to get his second victory of the season.  He struck out 9, but did walk 5 batters.  He was able to work around the baserunners though, only giving up a RBI-double to Yadier Molina in the 4th.  That proved to be the lone offense for the Cardinals as the Diamondbacks' bullpen didn't even allow a base-runner over the final 3 innings.

For St. Louis, it was a bit of a disappointment in Adam Wainwright's return.  He lasted just 3 and 2/3 innings, and gave up 4 hits and 3 earned runs.  He struggled a bit with his command in his first start of the season, issuing 4 walks while striking out 3.  The lack of command led to a higher pitch-count for Wainwright and he exited before getting out of the 4th inning after throwing 89 pitches.

Second baseman Chris Owings went 3 for 3 to lead the Diamondbacks, who came in averaging almost 6 runs per game on the season.  The Cardinals offense will look to bounce-back tonight in the second game of a three game set.
