Thanks so much for the great post, and phenomenal idea to become involved with Leon's project.  The world definitely needs as much positivity and plus energy as it can use about now.  

Not sure if this is a ? for Leon, or just an observational offshoot. (I'm not a Netflix watcher, so haven't seen it, but your description helps with the imagination of what it is about.) 

 But I would think one of the hardest things for him to do, would be to move on, when it is time for him to do so. To immerse yourself that deeply in a culture, and to truly "be" with the people within it, when they are giving so much of themselves and other to help him, would make it extremely hard to leave them and move on. (Doing a show about it would help, the reality of getting to the next location...) But it might be interesting to get his take on this.

The few times I've traveled abroad  for months at a time, which involved as much "immersion" into others' lives as possible, was SO rewarding, yet made it so very hard and sad to travel on when time.

 Leon is doing this to the Nth degree, with their kindness as his support structure.    I realize we all  have to get on with life, but it seems that would be so rewarding, and so very heart wrenching at the same time.  But that, I suppose, is what the wonderful memories of such adventures, and the people at the very core of them  are for...to take with us to the end.
