Hi @framelalife Yeah, unfortunately, there's a limit to how long a back and forth conversation can be carried out here. I hope they fix that in a future update.
When dealing with international scams, there are very few options available to people seeking refunds and restitution from scammers. It would require the police from both the victim's country and Mexico to cooperate in a joint effort, which only ever happens in major cases involving terrorists, drug smuggling rings, etc. I doubt something as small as Jeff's little racket would get such care or attention. Also, it's a shady business model to begin with, which require clients to either remain willfully ignorant of the laws that are being broken or disregard them intentionally. Most law enforcement officers would most likely think that you deserved to get scammed because you tried to subvert immigration laws. Ironically enough, this is likely the kind of situation that calls for some vigilante action from the victims themselves.

@piedpiper - Yeh I was already thinking that you can't sue someone when you are dealing with a foreign country, especially if he's constantly moving around & you don't live there.

I guess they could if they got his address in Vancouver.

My view on this is that he didn't just take money from people for Mx, I read there were 2 other countries involved, so he had to have known that he couldn't trust the government officials he was bribing.

The only way he wouldn't have known is if:

1. He started the service to all 3 countries at once which I find very hard to believe unless he's just not all that smart.

2. It was a scam & so he was trying to cash in as quickly as possible with as many countries that were hot buttons for immigration.

People don't get how difficult it can be to get citizenship worldwide.

Most people don't want to just backpack around the world.

If you are 18, SURE, it's easy. You have energy & a lust for adventure, but older people want to know they will be safe in the country they want to move to.

Yes we need to do our research, but MANY people are desperate to have a good stress free life.

They want to leave the US or Canada for these countries due to the low cost of living & warm weather.

If the world wasn't so FUCKED UP when it comes to immigration policies, they wouldn't have gotten scammed.

The US is responsible for this.

It used to be VERY easy to move to another country, but
post 9/11, the US started cracking down on immigration & either forced other countries to do the same, or they followed suit.

Unfortunately this is what happens with almost ALL coutnries worldwide, they copy everything the US does or the US strong arms them into doing what they want.
