I Hope I Gave Him A Reason To Smile

A little late but I did it. I actually went looking for a Chinese New Year card and believe it or not, it wasn't easy to find. I guess, all greetings are now done online. So, just in case, you are wondering what I am going on about, I had this idea of dropping mail into a cute DIY mailbox. So, anyways, after 3 days of looking for a card, my daughter managed to find one for me. She got it at a discounted price of RM3.88. Probably because it is too close to Chinese New Year and there's no way it is going to reach its recipient by snail mail. And she got a further 10% discount.

I have never done this before. Send mail anonymously. I wasn't entirely sure how to address him and what to say, so kept it short and simple.

Then on my drive over, I started over thinking and didn't want to give him the creeps. So I thought I should at least let him know that I am one of the parents from the school across. So I scribbled that very quickly.

Then I got my youngest to drop it in while I sat in the car. He struggled a bit, insisting that he couldn't fit it in. I was so nervous, the guy was going to come out and shoo us off for meddling with his mail box. But after 30 seconds (*trust me that is a looooong time to be outside someone's gate with Mum and son shouting at each other!*)

But no, he didn't come out and my son finally managed to slip it in. My son had so many questions after that. Took some time explaining that sometimes it is nice to do something for someone without expecting payback.

I really hope it puts a smile on the recipient's face when he checks his mailbox. And maybe, there is a bit of payback there.... I did feel good. 😊
