I hope the two of you get to rebuild and have a wonderful friendship! A couple of years back I reconnected with my best friend growing up when I was a kid. My family moved away and they did not want pay for long distance phone calls so we went on with our lives wondering how the other was doing for over 15 years. We reconnected and found out we grew apart in every way possible. We might check in once a year seeing how each other is doing but that is just about it. I’m just called “old friend” which is rather heart breaking but understandable. I’ve never been a talker so long distance does not work well. Even more so when we have no common ground.

Oh I know how you feel! I have relationships like that too, actually most of them from when I was a kid. This particular friend was from college, so we had already lots of things in common, but my childhood friends think I'm a total weirdo =)
