Hi @triptolemus ! I like your post very much as it motivated me a lot.
I am from India and I joined steemit on 15th aug, 2018. As a newbie I have faced many problems. But I didnt quit! Once a wise man have said 
"If you win, celebrate.
If you lose, learn from your mistakes." And I followed it in every bit of my life. In my first days of steemit I find it very hard to gain even a little bit of exposure. I wrote posts with using some of my best photographies but raerly any one have seen it. But i didnt think to leave steemit for a single time. I invest a lot of time to understand the how it works as I was very new in the blockchain world. Today I am 63 days old in steemit and I am happy with my progress. I dont have money to invest in steemit but I think if i invest back everything I earn in steem, I will be in a respectful position some day. Engazement is the only mantra in steemit, and I know you also believe it.
