I think these are Peegee hydrangea or Panicle hydrangea. I have a snowball type also, and you are right, those don't attract many insects.

Funny that wire worm might be stoned. I have never heard of opium lettuce! I was thinking that it might be nipplewort, but that was just a guess. One of my neighbors has had a wire worm infestation and has had them inside her house and piles of them on her porch and driveway. And like she always does she called an exterminator. 😢And I wonder why I never see insects like I used to.
