I have for the longest time said that people are selfish. This morning, I realized that I was right all along. This is rather strange to me, because I will never, ever, fully understand what people thinks. People seems to be full of themselves and people seems to never care about anything except for themselves or their closest ones.

I wrote a [post](https://steemit.com/writing/@hitmeasap/project-pay-it-forward-will-eventually-bring-awareness-to-steem) yesterday about an older woman. I paid for- and carried her groceries and I walked her home, just to make sure that she would get home safely.

This morning, I experienced something else. There's literally ice everywhere outside where I live and I was about to slip a couple of times when I was walking to the bus. I was heading to School when I suddenly saw that someone in front of me slipped. This person fell straight down to the ground without parrying the fall. No arms or legs in an attempt to reduce the impact of the fall. Nothing. BAM! - That was all. You could literally hear bones breaking upon impact. That's how loud it were.

I hurried as quickly as I could to this person. A woman. Probably around my age.

This girl, woman or whatever you would call it. This person, had just a few seconds earlier slipped on the ice. She fell straight down to the ground and it was easy to understand that the fall must've hurt her. She experienced pain. But no one seemed to care.

I quickly realized that she had hurt both her back and her knee, but people just stood there. It was -13 degrees outside and this woman was lying on the ground, crying and screaming due to the pain she felt. She was probably scared as well. People looked at her, ready with their phones to record everything. They took pictures of her and just stood there. They didn't care about her. The only thing they cared about was the "thrilling" and "exciting" morning they had, because they got something "cool" to talk about at work or in School.

- I hate people.

Like I wrote yesterday, I have a cold and I've been sick for a few days. I quickly gave her my jacket without a single thought of my cold or that I was about to freeze. It was the least I could do. I tried to ask people for help but they ignored me. They looked at me like I was a crazy person.

I sat there without my jacket, on the ground with her, for about 3-5 minutes before someone finally came to help us. Long story short, we could eventually help her up and lead her into a nearby School. That way she didn't have to freeze and she could wait for an ambulance. I asked her if she was okay, and she told me that I didn't have to wait with her. Because that was my first thought. That was my intention. To go with her to the hospital.

She thanked me for the help and told me that she would be okay by herself. I was late to school because of this, but that doesn't matter. I couldn't care less about that because what matters is, that this woman got help and that she is safe. However, I did receive a note for late arrival.

And to all those other people out there, who ignored us. **Fuck you!**

- I hate people.

I hate the fact that people in general are selfish, egocentric and full of themselves. I don't and I will never understand people who behaves like that. No wonder you feel lonely in this world when most people out there aren't even humans. No signs of compassion or empathy. Nothing.

How in the world can you just ignore someone like most of these people did?

- I will never, ever, be able to understand that.

Well in case it helps you to feel any better, I came tumbling off my bike a few weeks back when the wheel got caught in a tram rail. I was immediately surrounded by a group of people all trying to assist me. One picked up my bike, while others tried to help me up...... and not a single one was taking photos.

I obviously understand that everyone doesn't behave like a total idiot. The world is not all about darkness and loneliness. There's tons of beauty and wonderful people all over the world, but things like what I experienced earlier today... Yikes. That makes me truly worried.

I see this way too often as well which is unfortunate as it seems that it has been a trend being seen.  It often comes down to how we are often taught and the warnings we receive.  I recall an ethics course I took where the professor said that the world we have built around law and courts has hurt humanity as there have been cases where people helping become liable for the unknowing harm caused to those they help!  The example they provided was if you drive by a car accident and stopped to help the person trapped in a car and cause harm due to how you moved the person, you can actually be sued!  That says so much to what society has become... sad.

Yes! This is nuts. Some laws and regulations are forcing people to avoid taking action in certain scenarios... I can't help myself, but I wonder what type of parents and what type of childhood people had when they ignore a woman like they did today. Something have made them to behave like they are, and that's horrible.

the people taking the photos are the worst.  Long before smartphones I was involved in the tsunami and was carrying someone in from a boat.  I was surrounded by people with cameras and videocameras who could have helped me but were more interested in documenting it.  

There is some humanity in your story.... it's you.

Wow, what a bunch of assholes. It's sad. It's horrible. I don't even know how to react anymore... People are so messed up. I wonder what happened to these people... Something must've happened. You can't just behave like that without a good reason.

the reason most are like that is that we are all indoctrinated in our schools on tv the news

Thank you. Yeah, I like to think that I am a good person. I might not always make the best decisions, or be the best in everything I do, but I am good at heart. I mean well and I care about others around me.

I will never be able to understand people who doesn't seem to care about others. It's not like I want people to make room for 43 homeless people or anything like that. I just want people to care a little bit about others... A small act of kindness. But it seems to be fairly rare.
