**Notes From Spain**

I have been very busy of late, and still can't believe a whole month has gone by since my last post here at Steemit. We had a friend over for a couple of weeks and revisited Galera, this time staying in a actual cave house (we stayed at the hotel on the last visit).

Whilst in Galera for the second visit we travelled around a bit and visited a mountain town called Castril. It was an incredibly beautiful town, surrounded by mountain peaks in a Spanish national park. The roads up that way are somewhat narrow and very windy, which curiously didn't seem to affect the local's speed whilst driving on them. But it certainly helped me in getting thoroughly used to driving on the opposite side of the road with all the added thinking that requires. 

Even now in mid October the weather here on the coast is still so warm. The mornings are now a little cooler, but once the sun makes its presence felt it can still feel quite intense, perhaps late 20's or early 30's. Galera was much cooler in the mornings when we were there two weeks ago. It does snow there in the middle of winter, but normally never on the coast. I say normally, as it did last year for the first time in memory. To see photos of the beaches covered in snow was an odd site. And very hard to imagine given how warm it still is.

I made a visit to the local market last Saturday. The markets here are large and hold many stalls, especially of local food producers and farmers. I bought a large amount of organic fruits and vegetables that back in Australia would have set me back approx $50. Total cost was 15 Euro. Will last the week. Food here can be incredibly cheap (by the standards I am used to).

I even set foot - for the very first time - inside a Roman Catholic church. The main photo above is the outside of the church at Castril. I had angelic protection (as is evidenced by the photo), so I was okay.

It was an amazing place to stay. We visited one there that had about 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, and several kitchen and living areas. The woman who owns it likes to have guests over, so it was perfect. We may stay there for a night next time. 

The views from the one we stayed in are out of this world. Not many places anywhere else where you can get such views. Its very hard to describe the sense of space and peace you feel out there.

Thank you. It's always good to be back here, keeping in touch with everyone. Spain is a beautiful country. Whilst I am staying on the coast, its the inland areas that interest me the most. But my Spanish needs a lot of work so I still need a guide (my wife). She at least can communicate with the locals. They don't seem to understand my stilted form of sign language.

Galera and Castril are approx an hour and a half north east from Granada. So its still in Andalucia. Hoping to get to Granada and Seville at some point soon also. 

Madrid and the north of Spain would be good to see at some point also.
