La fotografía de calle siempre ha sido de mis preferidas. Llegar a Venezuela y ver que mi hobby resultaba tan peligroso como sacarse una muela bajo el sol, con utensilios sin esterilización, fue un poco decepcionante. A medida que pasaban los meses y los años resultó más decepcionante aún. No estamos en una ciudad en guerra. Sin embargo, existe más de un 50% de probabilidades de ser asaltado por intentar hacer una foto en cualquier ciudad de Venezuela. Así de sencillo, soy mala con las matemáticas, quizá las probabilidades sean mayores y lo del 50% solo sean las probabilidades de ser herido o muerto por una bala. A la delincuencia hay que agregarle los "colectivos" (grupos civiles armados por el gobierno), que si te ven aspecto de reportera de "derecha" son igual de peligrosos que los asaltantes. 
En algunas oportunidades pude salir en una camioneta pick up y me llené de valor para guardarme algunas imágenes de Caracas, que siempre valdrá la pena tener.

Street photography has always been my favorite. Arriving in Venezuela and seeing that my hobby was as dangerous as getting a tooth under the sun, with utensils without sterilization, was a bit disappointing. As the months and years passed, it was even more disappointing. We are not in a city at war. However, there is more than a 50% chance of being assaulted for trying to take a photo in any city in Venezuela. As simple as that, I'm bad at math, maybe the odds are higher and 50% are just the chances of being shot or killed by a bullet. To the crime you have to add the "collectives" (civil groups armed by the government), which if they see you aspect of "right" reporter are just as dangerous as the assailants.
On some occasions I was able to get out in a pick-up truck and I was filled with courage to keep some images of Caracas, which will always be worth having.

Que lástima leer algo como que los colectivos son grupos armados por el gobierno, pues yo que vivo en Venezuela debo decir que eso es totalmente falso.Debemos tener cuidado de decir la verdad. Tenemos una guerra no convencional; Una guerra económica donde la comida hoy, es muy escasa y cara, no encontramos medicamentos y los repuestos para los vehículos sufren igual rigor. Sufrimos porque otros quieren el poder y no respetan al pueblo que hoy sufre en Venezuela.

Guao! @marisolana, ¿los  colectivos no portan armas?, ¿quién les entregó esas armas?, ¿a quiénes apoyan? Sabemos perfectamente de qué estamos hablando. Claro que existen colectivos que hacen o han hecho alguna labor social, pero precisamente son los Colectivos armados, y mayoritariamente extremistas,  quienes han otorgado esta fama a los llamados Colectivos.
Discúlpeme, pero no ando por ahí aconsejando a los demás que digan la "verdad". Yo vivo en Venezuela,  y he tenido la posibilidad de recorrerla; vivo aquí como una más...a veces menos, porque al ser extranjera (y pobre) no tengo los derechos de la mayoría de los ciudadanos.  Mi vivencia como fotógrafa ha sido esta. Y no pretendí incluir una discusión política en mi post solo por mencionar quiénes son los colectivos. 
Compañeros y compañeras de trabajo - fotógrafos -  incluso trabajando en organismos del estado, han recibido las amenazas de miembros de los Colectivos, y hasta han perdido sus cámaras por "parecer" desafectos al gobierno. 
Si está contenta con su gobierno, bien por ello; si no lo está, bien igual. No es mi problema.

des-ideologización más bien. Cada cuál que piense como quiera, pero lo que no entiendo es que entren a otras publicaciones a exigir que digamos la "verdad"; como que uno deja de hacer fotos en Venezuela solo por ser adicto a la victimización o algo así...
Ese es el problema de las personas así, que insisten en imponer sus ideas en todos lados.

jajajajajaja. Si. Venezuela es un país hermoso, me quedo corta cuando digo esto, y quienes viven aquí son hermosas personas en su mayoría. Pero lamentablemente la inseguridad es uno de sus mayores defectos.

Es como entrar a un juego, uno acepta las reglas desde que llega; para mí funciona así. Pero que la delincuencia tome las calles de tu país cada día más es desalentador. Venezuela tiene muchísimo potencial para la fotografía!

Woww!! me imagino como deben estar las cosas, muy al margen de la realidad que puedan estar viviendo, las fotos son muy buenas. Quería viajar a Venezuela por que sé que ahora es barato, pero estoy esperando que mejoren las cosas un poco más. Cuando viaje, te lo haré saber. Un abrazo enorme :)))

Bueno, en realidad el problema de inseguridad no es nuevo. Me encantaría que pases por aquí! Es un país hermoso. Pero sí, hay q tener muchísima precaución, lamentablemente en estos momentos no creo que sea fácil moverse dentro del país, la situación del transporte también es caótica. Hay que ser muy aventurera para venir en estos momentos! jajajaja.
