I came across these crystal-embellished owl figures which make me think of the recent popularity of owl designs in interior design, fashion and styling events. 

This made me delve on the significance of owl symbolism in different cultures of the world. For Greeks owls are associated with Athena, the goddess of wisdom and strategy. Certain cultures in Europe, like the Dakota, some Germanic tribes and Scandinavian Vikings believe that the hoot of an owl means an approaching danger or death. The Mayans and most Asian cultures associate the symbol of owl with death as well.

So, why the popularity of owl designs recently and in the past few years if it is mainly associated with negativity? This may be due to the fact that owls being nocturnal animals are associated with mystery, magic and enchantment.

Also, by nature, owls are great hunter with extraordinary vision. 

Owls usually thrive in the dark but now they are also being used for cutesy and bright designs. Owls are now seen as positive symbol that captivate the world. Indeed, owls have enchanted the world in so many ways.
