Chapter 5

 INTERSTELLAR NEWS CHANNEL 9 NEWS FLASH

It has been reported that the commander of the Federal Navies, General Jee, is gathering all available ships in preparation for launching a counter offensive against the invasion of Mr Fluffy. With continued advances by the droid forces, our swingometer now shows that Mr Fluffy has control of forty percent of the Inner System. With reports of more systems surrendering without a fight, our experts expect to see an increase in the rate of the swing to Mr Fluffy.
 The High Priest of the Order of Righteous Indignation has become a fierce critic over recent weeks of the inaction by the Federation on the decision to defend citizens. Many have dismissed his criticism as attempted self-preservation as Mr Fluffy forces draw ever closer to the planet GS2 where he resides. While his church was ranked as little more than a cult on the Religious Galactic Scale before he rose to power, there has been a rapid increase in followers since. As well as ordinary people turning to the church, many celebrities have recently converted too. The church is now the major religion of GS2 and the surrounding sector. The High Priest has claimed that news of General Jee gathering forces is just too little, too late.

Alienbutt sat at the table, to his left sat Nifty and Blackarachnia while on his right sat four Ick officers. As the highest ranking officer left in the Ick navy, Alienbutt was adjusting to the fact that all the Ick deferred to him as their new leader. He explained Frank’s findings as best he could and sat in the silence that followed, waiting for their response. 
Blackarachnia was the first to speak. “How long does Frank estimate it will take for the fleet to be free of the dead space?” 
“He can’t be certain but his latest estimates range from four to five hundred years. He’s working on unreliable data as he only has a couple of weeks of readings since the portal closed. Basically, despite our hopes of dead space retreating and freeing our fleet being raised, we are on our own,” Alienbutt answered.
“Well the Inner systems will be under Mr Fluffy’s full control within a few months; he already controls almost half the area, and more planets are surrendering without a fight than are trying to stand against him. Once he has full control, he’ll turn his attention to the Empire and the Outer Systems,” the senior of the Ick officers stated. “Without our fleet, we cannot hope to hold out if the droid forces head our way, especially if the captured Federation fleets are deployed as well.”
Alienbutt leaned back in his chair knowing that with the sparse forces they had, the war was lost. Only with the return of the Ick fleet and Wickede would they have any chance of victory.
