Magnetic fields rose around the earth and strange unnatural laws became proven by men of science as the reality. Volcanoes had erupted on the head of mountains that had never had magma beneath their seat and the bleeding earth had killed the world about it. <center>**FIRST PHASE**</center>

<div class="text-justify">Ife watched from under a reef that sat on a shelf, almost on the lip of a valley. She ignored the twinkling corals that blinded one in the Eversun and focused on a fish flying past. She bent to tighten the tongs of her leather sandals, then she stood up. She watched the fish as it flew towards a coral tree then she dove into the empty space. She did not fall but bobbed in the air as if she was in water. She threw her hands forward in silent strokes towards the fish.</div><br>
<div class="text-justify">She was on the salt valley. It was more of a wide hole surrounded by corals, rocks, reefs, mounds of salt and bones of long dead animals than a valley. The bones of long dead whales, sharks, dolphins and smaller fishes filled the bottom of the wide hole. She loved to come here to hunt because its open space allowed for freedom of movement and you could see the big carnivores coming long enough to find the walls and climb out to safety. She had her long bone knife on her side and she was quite good with it. She followed the fish slowly, staying below it so as not to let her shadow give her away.</div><br>
<div class="text-justify">The fish turned towards the darkness of a reef and flew under it. Ife soon appeared behind it; her eyes darting all over the reef, seeking. She grunted in frustration after some minutes; the fish had disappeared. The valley suddenly darkened like one of the floating island that usually filled the sky, was passing over. Ife looked up and met the unyielding eye of a tiger shark. Her eyes flicked to the rows upon grinning rows of teeth, and she felt her limbs unfreeze. She turned, kicked her feet and fled into the darkness of the reef.</div><br>

<center>**AN ARGUMENT**</center>

<center>*Nobody remembers what the world was like before. There are things on the floating islands that speak of a different world. But the stories are more or less myths. Darkness! What is darkness? How did people live without light for even an hour? It was impossible! Light is life. Fishes swimming in the water, birds flying in the sky. Bah! The stories made no sense.*</center>
<center>*The priest of the Eversun said that man was cursed to face the wrath of the god for daring to create other powers beside him. He said Eversun had, in the Great War, banished the Dark, a being of great evil and broken his bride. People claim to see the Bride of the Dark. They say her silver light hangs in the sky at certain counts of the Thermostat, the big timer at the centre of every community that told the time as well as warned of an heat storm. She was indeed broken; a scattered mass of shattered silver rocks, floating in the yellowish-blue sky. Those who have old knowledge said she was once called Luna, now she is just a sea of dead rocks. It is believed the Eversun has chained her spirit within his fires, so the Dark would never return or he would complete her destruction. <center>**FIRST PHASE CONTINUES**</center>

<div class="text-justify">Ife navigated the reef, her eyes glowing in the darkness. She was running out of light but she had come prepared. She turned and watched the shark swimming about the edge of the reef, waiting like it knew she would need light soon. She pressed a patch strapped around her wrist and a transparent, jelly-like, film covered her from head to toe. Small filaments extended from the covering and touched her skin. She suddenly glowed.</div><br>
<div class="text-justify">She had made the suit in her father’s shop in town. It was charged by the heat of her blood and the light in turn gave her life. She turned away from the mouth of the reef and stared at the darkness spiraling into nothing before her. She had only three days before the suit’s power drained, she needed to move fast. She turned to see the shark still pacing about the entrance. “Everlight guide me” she prayed and turned back to stare at the dark again, then squaring her shoulders, she swam into the darkness.</div><br>
