Batatas fritas geram dependência
Algo tem batatas ou batatas fritas para causar quando abrimos uma bolsa, não podemos parar de comer até terminar. Cientistas alemães estudaram o padrão de atividade que desencadeia esse alimento no cérebro e determinaram que a razão pela qual somos irresistíveis reside não apenas em seu alto teor de gordura e carboidratos, como se acreditava até agora.



Num estudo publicado em Fevereiro na revista PLoS ONE, que reflecte a agência SINC, cientistas analisou a activação de cérebro de ratos alimentados com batatas fritas e ratos alimentados com comida padrão insípida. E agora, os mesmos pesquisadores apresentaram os resultados de seus últimos estudos, que complementam o anterior, no 245º Encontro e Exposição Nacional da American Chemical Society. "Temos estendido o estudo com um terceiro grupo de ratos alimentados com uma mistura de gorduras e hidratos de carbono semelhantes aos de batatas fritas de proporções," explica Tobias Hoch, um pesquisador na Universidade de Erlangen-Nuremberga (Alemanha) e autor.



Os resultados das ressonâncias magnéticas mostraram que os animais alimentados com batata frita experimentaram maior ativação das regiões cerebrais relacionadas ao sistema de recompensa, ingestão de alimentos, sono e áreas motoras. Além disso, estes ratos reagiram muito mais do que os alimentados com comida padrão ou a mistura de gorduras e hidratos de carbono, o que mostra que o efeito aditivo das fichas não pode ser explicada apenas pelo seu teor de calorias, como estudos anteriores sugeriu. "Em pesquisas futuras vamos tentar determinar qual é a composição das batatas fritas que causam essas reações no cérebro", avança Hoch.
