What is it with humans and their misguided propensity to equate anything remotely <i>yellow</i> or <i>curvy</i> with that supreme-est of fruits, <b>The Banana?</b>

Case in point, the <i>ariolimax californicus,</i> more commonly referred to as the California Banana Slug.

<i><b>C'mon, people!</b></i>  In what version of reality does this forest bottom-dweller even <i>remotely</i> resemble the high-hanging, palm-tree-swinging, King of Fruits, <b>The Banana?</b>

I wish I could say it's an understandable mistake... but I really can't.

I've seen a banana slug, in the wild and up close and personal. It in no way resembled a tasty fruit. 

As a gardener I don't like slugs and snails anyway, they do a lot of damage to my tender plants. This giant slug was a thing of nightmares!

Thank you for the detailed contrast of the bananas and those yellow slugs. The chart made it even easier for all of us to know the difference between the two. And for that, we should not even be comparing them at all. That scientist that was "studying the banana slug in its natural environment" should have known better.
