[Writing Prompts (Week 1) - We Are Better Than This.](https://steemit.com/writingprompt/@botefarm/writing-prompts-week-1--we-are-better-than-this-czwgsajo)
When dad called me that fateful day telling me of his dream, I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, afterall, he's still kicking and doing well. Though he felt concerned by the dream, I was quick to make it known to him that nothing will happen, yes, nothing will.

As we both dropped the call, the first thing to pop up on my smartphone was my tinder message from Tina, the lady I met yesterday online with some big curves enough for a man to want some fetish things. Yesterday, I have to keep it cool with myself as each questions thrown at her was replied with few sense of sexual undertone. I knew right away am in, with my hormones all set at the north pole. I was quick to reply with a possible place we could meet and have our first date. Tina didn't obliged.
"I'll be there punctual baby."
"I love you sweetie."

And today is the D-day, dad's call was just a distraction as I made for the bathroom singing my best all time favourite song "We are the world" by USA Africa. I just don't care what lies ahead anymore for me, for this I know, I've fallen in love and it's a risk worth taken. The shower was thorough and so was the clothings, I was set and perfumed to slay any queen and swept her off her feet. My car was already prepared from last night, a Cadillac with some pimps here and there, a sophisticated interior able to make a lot of people question my wealth. But in this place, no one really cares that much.

It took me just three minutes to get to the five star Hotel De'luvre, and been ushered in just as the table was described by her well reserved. I could see the most beautiful woman a man could ever wished for sitting calmly and showing full sign of an independent woman.
"Hello dear"
"Hi" she said with her eyes wide open at me and we made to settle down.
Our chit-chat was brief and we both enjoyed it.
"OK, Tina, what do you do for a living?"
"Am a designer, I design wears from tops to pants even sneakers, am inspired to try anything new, whatsoever that is in my hand at that time goes for it. And I so much love it."
"So what's yours?"
"Am a student here, am studying Electrical Engineering here at the university close by,"
"Aren't you the one who drove in a Cadillac? "
"Yeah, your observation was top notch " I said with a smile."
"I think there's something you aren't telling me. Common, are you an oil magnate or something, to afford a Cardilac "
"What? My dad is a politician at home, so that means it's a life full of enjoyment for me."
"Excuse me, a life of enjoyment? " She was trying to find what's funny and happy about what I just said but that is the truth. My home country is a place where the poor live for the rich, the poor are only needed prior to election by giving them some money. Some even offers food for just those week before the voting period.

The masses knew the consequences not that they don't, they knew immediately those politicians are elected into office, the poor who voted then into power are forever forgotten. No basic amenities as promised is delivered, only to be revisited some months before election.
Tina was looking puzzled as she searched through my eyes looking for more reasonable reason a young boy like me could be driving a Cadillac. And she found none, so that means something is wrong.
"Have I told you aside from being a designer, am also an activist, yes, I speak out against bad government and it's officials milking the state dry for there own pocket and family. Did your father ever told you ...."
"Just hold jt right there, I think you're going too personal with this". She continued anyway.
"How he got those money he sent to you?. No?... I guess he doesn't want to you to know that you're living on another man's wealth, the wealth that belongs to a whole community is what you're feeding on lavishly here. While his country and community plunges into poverty, you the children enjoy the most of your life here.
"Em.... Tina...... You just have to calm down here, we are here to have a date not politics. Babe, calm down" I tried moving close to hold her hands but the next reaction was profound as Tina jerked her hands off me and stood up.

"I've promised myself never to sit down with corrupt politicians and there sons and daughters who doesn't value there country.
I watched with shame and disgust as my first Tinder gate went south. I also learnt my lesson the hard way.
