아무것도 아닌 저도 이도 저도 아닌 곳에서 사는 느낌인데... 가치관이 아직 성립되지 않은 아이들은 더 혼돈이 있을 수 있을 것 같아요.

한국은 언제나 '단일 민족'이니 '단군의 자손'이니 하는 걸 강조하잖아요. 우리는 하나고, 한 민족이고. 여러 민족이 모인 이민국가인 미국에서는 자신의 뿌리를 찾으면서도 미국에 동화되는 것이 장려되고는 있지만, 확실히 어려운 점이 많아요.

중간에 이민을 간 1.5세대의 고민도 많은 겁니다. 저는 아예 미국에서 태어난 이민 2세는 그런 고민이 없을 줄 알았는데, 아니더라고요. 세대가 지나도 자신의 뿌리에 대한 정체성과 고민은 계속되는 것 같습니다.

전 이민 2세도 아니지만 처음부터 끝까지 다 이해가 가네요. 그들의 삶이 뜻하지 않게 정말 버거웠을 듯 하네요. 그런데 정말 그런 일들이 옛날 일일까요? 저는 아직도 많은 부분 되풀이 되고 있지 않을까 싶어 누구에게나 삶이 쉽지만은 않구나 라는 생각을 하게 되네요~^^

한국도 요새 다문화가정이 많아졌다죠. 삶의 터전이 생판 다른 곳에서 새로 인생을 시작한다는 게 참 어려운 일이죠. 아직도 세상 곳곳에서 많은 이들이 겪는 일인 거 같아요.

"더 바빠졌고, 더 부유해졌고, 점점 더 먼 곳에 살게 됐다...." 남 이야기 같지 않네요....상대적으로 (돈 없던 청년시절에 비해) 부유 해졌지만, 더 바쁘고, 몸도 마음도 더 먼 곳에 사는 제 모습 같습니다....

이민 가신 분들 뿐만 아니라 그 자녀들도 상당한 정체감 고민을 하게 되는군요. 여기도, 저기도 속하지 못하고 중간에 붕 뜬 불안정한 느낌을 받을 것 같네요. 브리님 소개만 잠깐 봤는데도 그 분들이 겪을 스트레스나 고민들이 느껴져 안타까운 마음이 듭니다ㅠㅠ

네. 저도 어릴 때는 멋모르고 교포2세들은 좋겠다 싶었거든요. 영어도 잘하지, 더 나은 환경에서 공부하지.. 근데 잘 들여다보면 그 안에도 고민이 많더라고요. 입양된 케이스가 아니고 친부모 밑에서 자란다하더라도 말이죠.
