Giving Back

Today I had the privilege of being part of a delivery to the Huonville PCYC evacuation centre for people displaced by the current bushfire situation here in Tasmania.

The Tasmanian Brick Enthusiasts (Lego Club) used funds raised from our Brixhibition events (which are held around the state each year), to purchase a bunch of Lego packs which were donated (along with some contributions from members own collections) to the Save the Children kids play zone.

By the time we carried it in from the car, we had half a dozen or so enthusiastic kids on our tail, and they were into it before we were even out the door.  The smiles on their faces was pretty contagious.

Well done to all the volunteers down there, you are all doing a fantastic job.

Well done everyone!! Always good to see people helping! I’m sure LEGO helped distract them from the horrible situation their in. I couldn’t imagine being evacuated from my home because of wild fires!!

Yeah, it's fair to say the kids were all pretty excited.  The staff running the kids space said they were really crying out for something like Lego as the age bracket a lot of the kids fall into is one where kids look to be creative.
