I noticed it weeks ago. I enjoy Christmas, always have, but I am conservative with gift buying and decorations. I love sweet little details, reminders of good will, peace and joy. There is something gorgeous and alluring about the excitement of Christmas. It is a festive time of year. </p> <p><br></p> <p><img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/steemimgimgs/2016/10/27/Leather-star-rainbow6d607.jpg" width="1880" height="1200"/></p> <h2><img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/steemimgimgs/2016/10/27/Decorating8d035.jpg" width="1880" height="1200"/></h2> <h2><strong>However I do find the commercial face of Christmas can be quite overbearing. </strong></h2> <p><br> Expectations, waste and mindless excess consumption are encouraged. Christmas in the shops has started already and runs for months. Seasonal sales during this period can tie you over during quieter times. Extra sales are a welcomed bonus but I don't want to be part of the consumerist madness associated with this time of year. I like my shop to be unique, when you step through the doors, you are greeted with a world removed from mass production and waste. A place that encourages innovation, recycling and celebrates handmade. I think its way too early for Christmas decorations and especially Xmas carols. I don't like to see/hear those before the beginning of December, because I think it destroys the specialness. But because some people choose to start their shopping earlier than that, I think a small corner of appropriate merchandise, like you have, is fine a couple of months beforehand. Loving your posts and seeing glimpses of your shop, by the way.

Hi @kiwideb - there definitely are people doing early shopping. All those super organised gift buyers. I have sold a few little leather star decorations (although not exclusively Christmas looking) and quite a few little Christmas pieces too. Some years I shop early, other times I am one of the crazy people out on Christmas Eve. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
