*Era ormai la mezzanotte al ***Pekelin Festival*** di Chatillon, mancava all'appello della scaletta soltanto un gruppo, ero molto curioso di vederli esibirsi in quanto mi erano stati altamente e caldamente consigliati da uno degli organizzatori del festival al quale non avrei potuto successivamente dare alcun torto.*

*Prendete questi cinque generi musicali: blues, soul, funk, rock e raggae, fondeteli assieme accuratamente ed otterrete un risultato di altissimo livello trovandovi davanti ai [The Black City](https://www.facebook.com/theblackcity/).*

*Nati a ***Torino*** nel 2015, un trio formato da chitarra, basso e batteria, musicisti provenienti da band come [Lou Bega](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Bega), [Tribà](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vito_Miccolis), [Calipson](https://www.facebook.com/calipson/) e [Ossi Duri](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ossi_Duri).*

> Alla genesi del progetto vi è l’idea di proporre brani originali, capaci di coinvolgere la band e il pubblico in un unico sound: il funk è la base, il blues lo spirito (cit. di Martin Bellavia, chitarrista e fondatore del gruppo) 

*Durante questi anni hanno avuto l'onore ed il merito di supportare musicisti del calibro di [Rudy Rotta](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudy_Rotta), cantante e compositore italiano e [Lola Gulley](https://lolagulley.com/home), soprannominata anche ***Queen of the Blues di Atlanta***.*

*Spesso il giovedì sera al [Birra Ceca Pub 82](http://birraceca.it/il-pub/) di ***Rivoli*** è possibile vederli esibire in [Jam Session](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jam_session) assieme ai migliori musicisti della provincia torinese e spesso anche alcuni ospiti provenienti dagli U.S.A.*

*Il loro nome in italiano significa ***La città nera***, nome che si riferisce al fatto che la città di ***Torino*** venga chiamata in questa maniera oltre che a causa dell'occultismo (si dice che sia uno dei due triangoli delle magie bianca e nera) anche per merito del genere musicale ***Hip Hop*** grazie a [Maurizio Cannavò](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_NextOne) anche noto come ***The Next One***, campione del mondo di Break-Dance nel 1985 e compagno di tour degli [Afrika Bambaataa](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afrika_Bambaataa).*

*Il nome scelto dalla band è appunto un omaggio alla loro città natale, ricollegandosi al fatto che loro propongano diversi generi musicali che vengono associati al colore nero.*

*Si sono già esibiti e si esibiranno in tour all'estero, calcheranno i palchi in Francia, Germania e Repubblica Ceca per farsi conoscere, proponendo al pubblico il loro un* ***Pulpy Funky Show***...

...*dove presentano il quattordici brani, tra i quali alcuni sono presenti nell'EP pubblicato a maggio dell'anno scorso, intitolato ***What the Funk you want?***.* 

*Hanno da poco realizzato il video dell canzone [Alley Drunk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2VdWWhX7ZM), girato da Leonardo Aloi, che prende spunto dalla realtà cittadina composta da ragazzi appassionati di ***biciclette*** non dotate dei freni, dette anche ***a scatto fisso***, i quali hanno dato il via ad una nuova realtà, essi ***adorano scorrazzare  per le strade torinesi facendo tappa nei loro bar preferiti per bere una birra e girandoli uno dopo l'altro per tutta la notte***.*

*Mi sento in dovere di sottolineare di essere stato davvero fortunato a poter "scoprire" questo gruppo, spero proprio che li apprezzerete anche voi! Non mi resta che augurarvi una buona visione e soprattutto buon ascolto!*

*Was almost midnight at the ***Pekelin Festival*** in Chatillon, missing only one lineup band, I was very curious to see them perform as I had been highly and warmly recommended by an organizer of the festival with whom I could lately just agree.*

*Take these five musical genres: blues, soul, funk, rock and raggae, blend them together carefully and you will get a very high level result finding you in front of you [The Black City](https://www.facebook.com/theblackcity/) band.*

*Born in ***Turin*** city during 2015, a trio formed by guitar, bass and drums, musicians that have already played on bands like [Lou Bega](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Bega), [Tribà ](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vito_Miccolis), [Calipson](https://www.facebook.com/calipson/) and [Ossi Duri](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ossi_Duri).*

*They have recently made a song video called [Alley Drunk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2VdWWhX7ZM), directed by Leonardo Aloi, which is inspired by a city reality that speak about guys loving ***bicycles*** not equipped with the brakes, also called ***fixed-gear***, which have given rise to a new reality, they ***love to roam Turin streets by stopping in their favorite bars to drink a beer and turning them all night long***.*
