Cannabis businesses in Nevada have taken to suing over what [they view to be a corrupt licensing scheme](https://steemit.com/cannabis/@doitvoluntarily/cannabis-businesses-in-nevada-sue-over-corrupt-licensing-scheme) in the state. During a recent hearing on the matter, an official with the Nevada Department of Taxation [insisted that the license scheme was fair](https://lasvegassun.com/news/2019/jul/01/state-cannabis-official-reaffirms-fairness-of-appl/), with regard to the scoring of retail license applications. 

J. Pupo the deputy executive director of the Department of Taxation has admitted that the state might seek to make improvements on the current scoring methods however and that they aren't perfect. The hearing over this matter will still go on for several days yet, as several witnesses are scheduled to testify. 

# It's estimated that roughly 460 applications had been received in Nevada last year from interested parties who were looking to get into this industry.

Why weren't those others allowed to obtain a license to enter the market? What if they have more skills and knowledge about the product than those who have obtained a license? What if they would have done a better job at serving their community? Why couldn't the people of Las Vegas have been able to determine for themselves who they would like to see succeed in the cannabis market?

For those who did have their applications rejected, some of them have taken to filing a lawsuit over the matter. At least 40 of those who had been rejected have also sought to ask to state to block the granting of retail licenses to others. 

This is the same scenario again and again whenever we have seen legalization implemented and their often nonsensical rules enforced. People who simply want to supply medicine to willing parties in their community are prevented from doing so because of a government check-list and allegedly corrupt scoring process. Lawsuits have been launched in various regions over the same issues, individuals who have claimed the scoring process was corrupt and severely flawed. 

All individuals should have the same chance to enter the market if they wish to, without a central party deciding for them whether or not they are fit to serve and provide for themselves and their families. Let the people decide by allowing them to vote with their dollars whether or not they are going to support that entrepreneur.
