Oooooh when I lived in a town, one of my favorite things to do was go to a coffee shop and sit, be on the internet, draw, drink coffee, and just observe people. It was fun when I was doing some stealth drawings of other people too! Especially in Europe! I think it's interesting how European coffee shops often had their coffees in clear glasses rather than cups like we often do here in the US. And the coffee was SO much stronger. Hahah. I miss living in Germany! 

I am loving how you did the pittie here. Did you decide to sketch, fill in with black, and then "cut out" details with white? I always found it so hard to do it that way, myself. You pulled it off wonderfully. Ooooh, I am so going to enjoy this series of yours! Makes me miss living in a town or city.

I love sitting in a cafe for hours and drawing.  Something about the bustle around me often helps me focus.  If its a coffee shop that i go to a lot , i also get nice social breaks here and there when people I know drop by for a visit.  Cute dogs!!! <3

Wondering if we should all chip in and get the Pittbul and Poodle a second coffee? But guess that could undermine their friendship....and we don't want that, right?

When i was younger I carried papers and  small metal box with charcoal in my bag all the time..And had friends that played gigs during weekends in one club..I would set during their play and draw all members of band..you reminded me on some great times @donnadavisart ..no coffee at that time, only beers :)

I'd like to be able to work at a cafe, but im way too shy XD

This is an awesome drawing and an awesome series! I love coffee shops! I don't even mind working in them as a barista!
I used to hang out in coffee shops a lot... not so much anymore. I think because these days I feel too guilty when I could be hanging out at home keeping my dogs company! I have been thinking lately though that I wouldn't mind getting out to some nearby spots to have some zen time. I love the white noise of the cafe. It makes my creativity soar... I like overhearing snippets of conversation and the smell of the coffee. Yep it's time to go back!

I fear in the realm of writing, the coffeehouse just does not work for me. Unless it is just to take photos FOR writing.  But in creation, a necessity is a quiet room to sit and just 'go'.   

Otherwise, my focus knob is usually quite broken down.  Watching people and trying to figure out what in the world is up with them, what their story is, or why, what that dog in the corner is doing, or a number of other questions that arise, gets in the way.  Distractions galore.  Let alone the art on the walls, smell of food, clinking dishes, etc.  Just too much to take in.   Like a big old sponge. 

Does work as a place to hang out and watch, go home and THEN write about what I've seen.  I wish it were different, because I could pretend I was in Paris, and was really cool and smoked and drank coffee and was a true, public artist.  Large sigh, but OK with it, as things DO get done [now and then ( :   ]  Plus, I've never had a cup of coffee, if you can believe that, so I might stick out like the sore proverbial digit...

If you are a latte lover, try turmeric latter with cashewnut milk. It is delicious!
Regarding sketching outside, I do sometimes life drawing, but that's about it, I need to be by myself and have nobody looking at me while I draw. I found it too intimate. But then, hey, maybe I am just paranoid.
