Although the weekend was dominated by the historical Bitcon Cash pump and dump, it doesn't mean the crypto universe was still and nothing happened. On the contrary, many things happened and one of them was of particular interest for me.

JSEcoin, the "currency for webmasters" published their whitepaper and onepager in their November newsletter, both providing a lot of highly expected clarifications. 

Before jumping into this, I remind you that I'm testing JSEcoin in a few of my sites, including [steem.supply](http://steem.supply). Other than being a very early adopter, I have no other stake in it. A heated "debate" was recently circling around this topic on Steemit, revealing again long hidden frustrations of some very high profile members of this community. All is well when it ends well, though, and, as a result of this so-called debate, the devs behind JSEcoin refactored their privacy notification, making it more clear for end-users and providing an easy opt-out mechanism. I also updated steem.supply with two new content areas about this experiment, a one-time popup and a permanent footer notice.

Now, back to the whitepaper.

Browser mining has a mixed rep these days. Partly because some of the high-profile websites doing this are not disclosing it on purpose, partly because the technology is so new, that there isn't yet a clear framework for disclosure. Just keep in mind that it took a few years until websites disclosed they are using cookies. Browser mining is less than 4 months old (in the case of JSEcoin, other clients, like coinhive, may have been around for longer).

But if done correctly, this technology has a fantastic potential. Just like Steemit is trying to disrupt the traditional social media economy, browser mining may disrupt ads monetization for webmasters. If Steemit aims at being the new, improved Facebook, JSEcoin may be the new, improved AdSense. 

With that being said, let's see what the whitepaper says:

* total supply: 100 millions coins
* deflationary currency, with a 10 years projected distribution window
* uses only excess CPU, or, as the whitepaper claims: "consumes  less  resources  than  a  video  advertisement"
* fee-free transactions on the network, with a 30 seconds estimated block time
* ICO TBA during 2018

According to the same blog post, during November we should see a desktop app, a blockchain explorer and the traditional Bitcointalk ANN thread.
