Wow it is so much historical .

I read at some point that if there's one thing that memories hold, it's photographs and objects, @ericvancewalton. Every time you see the images of your grandfather, he will revive in you; so will the objects, which are full of history. Through these two things you can not only imagine a person you did not know, but also a time you did not live in, an environment. Thank you for sharing your memories and affections with us. It's true that Photography  has a way of arresting  the past  for both the present  and the future. 
My grandma  is 110+ years and still living,  have to take up to visit the toilet and take her bath.  Though she has lost many of her memory but she's  still kicking. 

Those tools showed up there are carpentry tools  right?.

Really old photos have lots of memories, it could be take us past days, i think old photos work like a good bond. I have a old photos of my parental grand dad , he died when i was 4 years old and another photos of my grandmother who died when i was twenty. When i see the photographs my heart cries for them and remember lots of memories. We should all remember to our roots because it's our link and the universal truth is one day we will be memory to our kids that very hard to think.

In the old days it was not common to take pictures ... in the case of my grandfather I do not know how it is ... only what they say about him, but there is not a photography of him ... of my grandmother,  alone a few photos ... The photos are the best memory, I think my generations will know a lot about me because I love the photographs, anywhere I go I like a memory and it's taking a picture ... Good thing you have though be a picture of your grandfather, at least have an idea of his face and how it was ... :) Happy start of the week!

So nice that you have a link.  I have never traced my family's lineage like you it cuts short on my Father's side. My Grandfather's parents are a mystery on my Dad's side.  I do have the stories and never traced them.  

Do you think you kind of look like him?  The temper I bet you do not have.

Your grandfather was surely a great person, as you mention that he was the eldest of the brothers, he had to protect the family and always take the helm from them. Photographs allow us to imagine and remember those times when they were taken, especially when they are so old.

Yours grandfather died in very early age due to stomach cancer and your father was just 3 year old then. It was very tough time for your father .

Very sad memory story , these tools are memorable of your grand father . Keep use and safe them .

This is very bad thing. When someone dies in his early age . But death is a true. One day I will also die. But memories are always alives .

That is a shame that both your father and you kids never got to know him. 
That is exactly my reason for coming to steemit, to leave my words and thoughts for the future grand kids if I am long gone before they arrive. 
If the steem block chain survives then a little piece of me will too.

So sad that your grandfather died so young. Awesome though to have his tools as a memento, a visible link to the past!
I've also been digging into the archives and asking my mother questions about days long gone by, before her memory fades even more! But I need to pen those memories here before I also forget!
