At first glance this series just seems like another run-of-the-mill sitcom and for the most part, that is exactly what it is.  It seems as though this show is a bit of an outreach to the conservative audience out there, but for the most part it just isn't funny.

Ashton Kutcher plays the role of Colt Bennett who was born and raised on farm life but due to what appeared to be a real chance as a professional football player which lead him away from his roots for 15 years, he doesn't have a great deal in common with his rather rustic family.  After admitting failure as a football player he decides to return home to help out on the farm and I suppose the "city slicker" antics of his lack of knowledge of pretty much everything that takes place in that sort of environment is supposed to be funny.

I have a tremendous appreciation for Sam Elliot and for the most part think that Ashton is a decent enough actor although he doesn't really have a lot of versatility.  However, the rest of the cast seems to be Kutcher getting work for as many **70's Show** actors as possible - not that there is anything wrong with that.  Danny Masterson plays his brother "Rooster" and later on "Fez" (Wilmer Valderrama), "Kitty Forman" (Debra Jo Rupp,) and "Red Forman" (Kurtwood Smith) all make appearances.  

The big problem I have with this show is that it relies quite heavily on actually making fun of "country folk" throughout each episode.  I'm not insulted, I have never lived on a farm, but even the canned laughter can't really make up for the fact that the show just really isn't funny.  I may have smiled twice after 10 episode or so (I skipped around.)

Between the fact that this sitcom is not really funny to me and that Ashton Kutcher's fake country boy accent is not even remotely close to genuine as it is patronizing, I can't really suggest this show to anyone.  Also, since it is not on network television at all, they swear a lot and while i would imagine this is meant to make the characters seem more real, the curse words are generally not necessary at all and add nothing to the dialogue other than to make it seem more "adulty."

Dax Sheppard gets introduced to the lineup in season 4 and he is actually entertaining.  I might be a little biased because generally I just really like him.  Also, he doesn't try to use a fake hick accent and i think this actually adds to his character.  

The show will not be renewed by Netflix after 2020 and for me, it is easy to understand why.  I am actually a bit surprised that it made it this far.  The show isn't terrible, but it isn't anything particularly noteworthy.   It is nice that Ashton tries to get paychecks for his pals though.
