Its very rare for any of my posts to hit a decent amount, every once in a while a post will skyrocket but not alot like some other blogs. Ive come with the same mindset that I have with Youtube, dont expect anything and anything that I do receive Is a bonus. Ive only been on a few months and know that its gonna take a fair while without any support or putting in my own money its gonna be a slow gradual rise.

My feeling is that it depends how you view Steemit. Are you trying to use it to make a living from, or are you doing it because you want to have a popular blog, perhaps a mix of the first. 

I do think that too many people come to steemit either as an idea that they can make a quick buck from it, or (much worse) because cryptocurrency ICOs have a Bounty Campaign running on blogs (Hash Rush guilty of helping in the second case - it resulted in a lot of spam articles that are simply thrown through google translate.)

When I upvote, I do try and make sure to upvote based on merit. It could be easier to chase the whales and you might get more payout from them; but (personal opinion here) I would prefer to see steemit reach it's potential as a platform where content is valued over the size of ones voting power. 

My personal line is - I would use the various bot services, they can help and are made with good intentions. But chasing large accounts and voting for them, disregarding the content is something I avoid.

Similar thing happened to me actually... after the first post of mine that got curied did so, Every post I spent 3-5 hours writing was getting a huge sum of upvotes.... But as my rep gone up curie stopped giving me those upvotes (they still upvote some of my posts but with low amounts and rarely).

I got discouraged for a bit... But I remembered the reason I joined steemit... Not only because of money but also because I believe in a system like this (though I know its not perfect and it might disappear one day)

Now I post, and leave my posts to luck... I know one day people will look up my previous reviews and go: "what a great person". (wild imagination)

#### If a post is of a low SBD value does this hinder the growth of a new gaming blogger?

I say it depends on person... but yeah, it may hinder most people if they came here for money... If they're here for fun or reaching new audience it won't matter as much.

I have been looking for were i was mentioned thank God i came across it. 90% of persons  here have the mindset of racking out millions just in short time from this platform so if such person reward drops, he/she will surely get discouraged especially when it drops deeper. I have been thinking of a way were we gamers can really support our self. We are few and we always write alot and my post always hit 1k words plus. If so post that took 3-5hrs to perfect get low reward like 2 times it might really discourage me. But anyway let do the needful and be supportive. Lez game and steem on..as we steem after the money, we should steem after each other. love you all gamers @grownfolksgaming

It's definitely rough out here for us gamers, which is why I added a little variety to my blog! My plan is to expand my foot print here on steemit and hopefully obtain loyal followers who will upvote just about anything as long as it's quality! 

A big thing is that we gamers have to stick together! We should make a gaming community on Steemit now that I think about it!

It depends on your subscribers along with your content. Without using any up vote bots (well worth using to help you early on to grow like @kpine did for you), I find I would get a few dollars on a post, but probably quite a few up votes as well.

Keep being active by up voting and commenting worthwhile stuff on the posts of others, grow your fan/subscriber base and keep making friends. It takes time (plus quality posts, which they may tell stories themselves with a variety of pictures, like my Skyrim series).
