Insomnia Symptoms Tied to increased incidence of Stroke, MI

 <p>A recent, large&nbsp;<a href="https://n.neurology.org/content/early/2019/11/06/WNL.0000000000008581">study</a>&nbsp;shows that insomnia symptoms are strongly associated with the increased risk of many cardio-cerebral vascular diseases (CCVD) notably stroke, MI etc.&nbsp;</p><p>The researcher considered a total of 3 insomnia symptoms in their studies. 1. Early morning awakening (EMA), 2. Difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep (DIMS), and 3. Daytime dysfunction (DDF). Thy found that EMA, DIMS and DDF were linked to 7%, 9% and 13% increased risk of CCVD, respectively.&nbsp;</p><p>They also found another interesting relationship with the combination of these symptoms and risk of CCVDs. Comparing with the individuals who were not having any symptoms of insomnia, it was found that only one of these symptoms was tied to 7% elevated incidence. A combination of any two were tied to a 10% increased incidence. Lastly, presence of all the three symptoms were tied to a 18% increased incidence of CCVD.&nbsp;</p>
