this is so true bloggers get less and less traffic to their site because most of the people spend all their time on social media sites..

hahaha... Yes, I'm spending very little time on facebook now after discovering steemit . I have to admit though that the climb on steemit is tough but I also realized that my expectation was never fair to begin with, I mean, of all my years on facebook, I was paid a big whopping ZERO.

I don't think blogs are dead though. Successful bloggers normally get their traffic from Google anyway, i.e. millions of unique monthly visitors. 

Facebook has a crappy algorithm which only shows your posts to probably 5% of your followers or less. I heard it's 1% if your page has more than 100k followers. I think Steemit will change all that. Sick of the restrictions imposed by Facebook and more recently, Instagram.

Honestly the masses are shoved in the mainstream social websites, thus leaving little room for small blogs and websites that are owned by people. 
But steemit pays so it's a win win situation if you decide to blog here

I think the only reason people are getting successful is because thet believe in themselves. Nothing can stop somebody if they put their mind to it. Who agrees!?

Seriously, these companies like Facebook, Twitter, Google etc. are generating money through ads.  Using our data, they are providing us with personalisation and henceforth, we are clicking on the ads. Therefore, the ads business is going well bcoz the advertisers are satisfied with the services.

Therefore, we need to replace this centralised based system with a blockchain based platform where publishers, advertisers & users can be owner of themselves.

The thing I love about Steemit, is that it gives everybody an opportunity to succeed. It's an equal for everybody, if you put in the time, you will reap the rewards.

Yes, blogs are not the future platform to share personal ideas, helpful articles, niche topics and cat pictures.

The big social media platforms - like Steemit ;) - attract a large audience. This audience is easily reached with the right content. This connection would not be possible with an old fashioned blog.

I actually wrote a university paper about Blondinbella a few years ago and I learned a lot about blogging. But trends are changing fast in the world of online content distribution and I agree with you that blogs are not ideal anylonger. 

Blogs are too difficult to get started with and you will have to work too hard to have people read your content.

Steemit is a freaking awesome tool! You will be able to get rewards for your original ideas right away and you will not even have to spend 5 minutes working on technical issues because that is already taken care of by Steemit.

Steemit is the future of media. This is the platform that will push up the quality content creators and separate them from the junk. The system is perfect, we just need more people to trust it. This is a great post and we need this king of articles outside the steemit community  in order to attract more people.

I agree with  you 100%,  social media will  kill most blogs in  the near future. I like the way you ask Mark to pay you. Its only fair if he did, but never in your wildest dreams will u ever hear from him.  Steemit    will soon be the best social media given the payment aspect. Just imagine if  even half of facebook users moved to steemit? Only time will tell. Thank you for sharing

I agree with Steemit, but I also think a lot of people share nonsense just because they can make money with photos of themselves. I find it hard to climb up in numbers, while I think I write interesting articles that you can learn from. But I like to stay here and use it as my portfolio for now and maybe the number will grow

Awesome post and I completely agree with you. Steemit can be that. I also have a friend who became succesful with her blog and I had blamed myself for not thinking of having one. Now I just hope I will succeed here, on Steemit, like everyone else does.

Great post ! Today i just lost my job...i worked really hard as a waiter for like 10 years in a restaurant...worked night after night shifts but still they decide they don't need my services anymore and that they don't have money to pay me so they just kick me out . It was really hard for me to find this job because i don't have much education....i did't go to college...
The real problem is that i have a debt of 759 $ to my apartment rent and if i don't pay till the end of the month they gonna kick me out from my own home. I don't have friends and my family won't lend me any money...
My only hope now to raise this money is steemit...i like it alot here and the community is very nice...

Please if anybody would like to help me , a upvote would be awesome and would help me tremendously to raise the money i need .

I use facebook to post my Steemit blogs.  I get some likes there on some blogs.

Tonight is my first night on Steemit and it's blowing my mind! I've was thinking about starting a website to try and make money as I go around the world, but now I'm wondering if it's even necessary. Thanks, and I agree. Platforms like this are going to change the need for personal websites.
