## Dear Steemians,
We all know that our introduction posts **can** literally either make or break us. It's therefore of utmost importance to publish a well-thought, in-depth and meaningful introduction.

For many of us, our introductions posts are the **first** post we ever publish on Steemit and we hope and wish that we will be welcomed with plenty of upvotes, amazing comments and high rewards. - When I joined Steemit I got something like $4 in total for my introduction meanwhile **several** other authors got $300, $500 and more than $1000 for theirs...

The difference between those rewards are obviously ridiculously huge. And I actually felt a brief wave of despair right from the beginning of my Steemit career. 

However, I didn't give up and I continued to push myself further. I worked harder and I put in more and more effort. I spent countless of hours and I *"walked the walk"*.

## What I Learned
Even though I still consider myself to have been **very** lucky in the beginning of my Steemit career, I put in hours of work and wrote many different articles **before** I was able to get lucky.

The point is, that I **increased** my chances of being **lucky** by spending **tons** of hours and putting in **tons** of effort. - **Right from the start.**

You will never win the lottery if you never buy a ticket. **If** and **when** you do, you'll have a **chance**, even though it might be a small chance.

## That being said
Steemit is **far** better than any lottery out there. You don't **only** have a chance of scoring upvotes and rewards from your own published articles. You will **also** earn **something** from curation, which basically means that you'll earn as long as you upvote **other** authors content. And not only that, you will **also** have a chance of earning **something** if you **comment** on articles too.

You will most likely, at some point, feel despair, desperation and anxiety too. You'll sooner or later, at some point, most likely have a brief feeling of being overlooked and  that you're **never** rewarded for **anything** you do.

And even though it's easy to feel unmotivated and to see this as a failure, this is actually what will make you stand out from the masses. - ***As long as you push yourself further.***

Hard work, effort and consistency is crucial for your success in any type of business and in all types of social media. Steemit is **not** different.

So, if you **would've** been highly rewarded from your very first article... You'd be filled with hope, satisfaction and you'd also start to take those kind of rewards for granted in the future too.

- Can you imagine what would happen if the rewards **stopped** coming your way?

You would become miserable with tons of anxiety, desperation and anger. And that would ultimately make you **leave** Steemit without giving it a second chance, because it's often **harder** to **come back** than to build your way up step by step.

Steemit might be your hobby, but even if it is your **hobby**, you should **definitely** treat it like a **business**. Work hard, treat your readers (customers) the same way you want them to treat you, put in the necessary amount of hours and communicate. - That's how you'll get recurring customers AKA (also known as) Followers.

- With followers (support) comes **rewards**.
