African proverbs : The Lizard had the tree in mind when challenging the Dog to a fight.

In as much as instinct guards animals, they also has what is called **defense mechanism**. They uses this in defending or reacting to danger or their predators. 

some animals play dead when been confronted.  Some run away. Some emit poison.while Others camouflage with their environment etc.

**But What does a lizard have to survive?** 
Ordinarily, we know that dogs cannot climb tress like leopards or other web-footed reptiles like lizards. It is obvious that dogs would beat lizards in a fight. Therefore, this proverbial lizard is aware of all these, and instead of relying on its strenght, it depends on the tree as its shield. 

That it challenges the dog to a fight is not because it can beat the dog , but because it has somewhere to run to when when the fight will looks helpless to it and  if the wind of the fight is blowing violently against it!

**LESSON**
- IT teaches us to tactical enough to choose our battles carefully so we don’t waste time, energy and resources. Be selective!
- Before u venture on business/something prepare yourself well.
- Always be ready just like the lizard because **opportunity finds a ready person**
