<center>**CURE FOR SIN AND SICKNESS**</center>

Adam with his wife Eve, the crown creatures of God were placed in the Garden of Eden where they lived and labored in the perfect harmony, health and in constant fellowship with the Almighty God. But they were sadly driven out when they fell into the lures of the old serpent and disobeyed God’s commandment. They were literally driven out of peace, harmony, power, dominion, purity and perfect health. Since then, the whole of humanity has been plagued with sin, sicknesses, dominion of Satan and death. 

The Bible says, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned”. (Romans 5:12)
Man’s helpless condition grieved God because this was never His desire for him. In fact, sickness was never heard of in the Garden of Eden, Neither was there pain nor affliction until after the Fall. Therefore, sicknesses is an operation of the curse which came as a result of Adam’s sin. Thus, sin and sicknesses are connected: sickness entered the world because of sin and sin has continued to spread sickness.

The Bible draws a connection between sin and sickness. Sin – not necessarily personal sin but Adam’s – is the cause of all sicknesses and diseases. Before Adam’s sin, we had no record of sickness anywhere. But immediately he sinned, God declares, “Cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life …. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return” (Genesis 3:17, 19). Evidently, pain, suffering, and death came as a result of sin.

We have other connections between sin and sicknesses. In Deuteronomy 28, God promised to bless the nation Israel if she obeyed Him and curse her if she disobeyed, and one of those curses was to plague her with sicknesses and diseases. He also gave her laws, spiritual and natural, which were intended to make her immune to diseases. Those laws, which included regulation of diet (Leviticus 11:13-15), good hygiene (Numbers 19:1-22; Deuteronomy 14:21; 23:12-14), and sexual morality to prevent venereal diseases and His anger (Leviticus 18,) are understood by the modern scientific community to be based on sound physical principles of diseases prevention.

 The failure of Israel to follow those laws then had an adverse effect on their physical health and our failure to follow them today is still affecting our physical well-being. Venereal diseases such as HIV are transmitted among humans primarily through indiscriminate sex mentioned in Leviticus 18. If sex were limited to the matrimonial bed, the chances of being infected with such diseases would be infinitesimal, and doctors would not have to keep pushing vaccines for the latest strain of HPV or hepatitis rather than get to the root of the problem. Sin brings sicknesses.

It is a fact that Adam’s sin put the human race in a big mess but God did not leave us in that mess. He quickly planned to fix the situation and to restore man to His original position by providing a cure in the person of His Son Jesus Christ. Thus, Jesus was sent to redeem the human race from sin and to bring healing to all humanity (Isaiah 53:4-5). He remains the only cure for sin and sickness (Matthew 8:17; Acts 4:12), having shed His blood for the salvation of man and it is also in Him that we can receive total healing (Psalms 103:3).

On the whole, we know government healthcare plans are fantastic and accessible, but without the understanding that sickness has a spiritual root, no government health initiative can rid her population of sicknesses; only Jesus can. So, to receive spiritual and physical healing as well as enjoy continuous complete soundness of body, mind and soul from Him, you must first accept His vicarious sacrifice and receive Him as your Savior and Lord.
