It's a good idea to take things at face value.

Have you ever met someone that said that they were a real jerk but they seemed like a pretty good person to you?

_Don't be so hard on yourself. You're a pretty good guy after all._

Maybe they have low confidence and that's why they think badly of themselves. On the other hand, maybe they know that they are actually a complete knob, and that you really shouldn't be trusting them.

I've met a few people that told me that I shouldn't trust them and it turned out that they were right.

It's easy for us to decide that people are not generally thinking in terms of actually being bad or good.

That's because each and every one of us has undoubtedly said this to themselves one time or another.

_I suck._

I know I've said it myself a time or two. Maybe I screwed up dinner, or didn't have a good engagement with a guest in my restaurant, or any other number of things.

So if I tell someone I suck then I may not mean it if I am currently in a bad spot.

If somebody continually tells you that they suck though over and over again it may just be possible that they actually do.

The reason I'm writing this post though is not about a person at all. It's actually about a bag of nacho chips.

That's right, a bag of corn chips.

I was walking through Walmart today and came across a bag of corn chips that claims to be scorching hot. They were really cheap, and I usually like things that have a heat flavor as long as it isn't overwhelming.

I guess I should say _as long as it isn't scorching._

I couldn't see anything scorching about these chips though. I think paprika was like the 8th ingredient. That means it's not at the top of the list, and I don't personally find paprika to be incredibly overpowering anyway.

Needless to say these chips were so hot that I had to drink like three sodas after my meal. Then I burped in the shower and had to get out and drink another soda.

Soda was the only thing I had that was cold.

I guess I got some of the powder on the table, and on my fingers, and on my face somehow too. My eyes are kind of burning, and underneath my fingernails is also not feeling so particularly good.

Isn't that just a pain in the butt.

I wish I had taken these scorching chips at face value.

Next time I see a bag of chips that claim to really hot..... I will reconsider the idea that they might not actually be that hot.

That was funny how you went from people to chips !

Some people who say they suck all the time DO have low confidence and usually if you hang around them, one of two things will happen.  One, they usually are not that happy much of the time and can't see their own gifts and blessings and will eventually start to drag you down with their constant neediness, or two, you will build them up till they are confident and then you won't be good enough for them anymore !!  

I don't care much for the scorchers, but I have eaten things that were spicy & left residue, that later I could feel on my face or hands or anything else it might come in contact with.  Maddening !
