It is not unusual in social media that a person will have a 500 camera shots that has a one angle (the left angle of cheek). But the trend does not yet ended. Here comes the monopad which will extend your arms for groupfie (group shot). Not like the self-portraits of the medieval painters, the selfie fanatics is more close to narcissism (extreme fondness of oneself). Whether they admit it or not, the selfie shots is inviting others to "look at me please" ----- in positive or in negative connotation. It has become a venue for instant self-affirmation. On the other hand, many are using selfie as a coping mechanism for much more deeper personal issues. Many of them, the self-steem is so high and so looking for ways to organize their feeling. Where did this insecurities of the people come from? Physical appearance. Some others considered their self not beautiful, not handsome, a firm body, looks like a bamboo for being so thin, looks like an electric post because of no body curve, etc. If there is only enough money, they will go to the cosmetic surgeon to modify their face and for body alteration. Many youth measures their personality base on what the media says, fashion magazines and what they have seen on TV shows. Lack of education. Some have a low regard of themselves because they think they are intellectually inferior. Because they never finish elementary or any formal education, they think that they don't have the right to be wiser or to associate any intelligent discussions.
![BlogPostImage](https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/591436763559694336/q2Y1_qPk.jpg)

Tragedy and trauma. It is also possible that because of different tragedy of life the result is, why many other youth are blushing and silent. During my college days, I meet George (not his real name). George is silent and don't mum. He is aloof to all and his every action is strange. He don't talk to many and always stay inside the room. Sometimes, we just hear him crying in the other side corner of his room. I just found out that George's relatives was died in a tragedy that was happened then in Ipil, Zamboanga when the Abu Sayyaf bandit's burn their whole barangay. He had so many bad memories of the event. This is the cause why he can't afford to make friends with others. Physical or emotional abuse. It is difficult to erase in one person's mind any abused that he experienced. It leaves a wound in the heart that is difficult to be erased. Many are growing quite or timid because of this event. People with this kind of traumatic events need assurance that they can overcome those bad memories with the help of the Lord. Sin. Making a sin can also be resulted a guilt feelings of one person. An intense feeling of sadness is what the people who suddenly fall into sin felt. It is not surprising that many of youths who look down their selves have their own world where they are accepted and they can accept theirselves. For example, many are locked themselves in the room and enjoyed in chatting in the internet. Because the people they talk to can't see them, and they can hide their personal outlook.
![BlogPostImage](https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/14/da/5e/14da5eb4a43ad53d1670362182f830cc.jpg)
[Image Source](https://www.pinimg.com)[](https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/14/da/5e/14da5eb4a43ad53d1670362182f830cc.jpg)

This was originally written by Ronald Molmisa in Filipino language, translated by @juvyjabian.

Thanks @countrygirl. It could be true because a person could not drag somebody down if he's on the upper side.
