Keluang Island and Tsunami Island : The Beauty After Disaster

Two different islands unite in one picture. Hmm. Beautiful, isn't it? Yups, for this time I can only enjoy this view in my own shot. I hope to visit these two islands one day, really, I want to be there. Every crosser towards the South and West Region in Aceh must know these two islands. They are very interesting make this objects become the background of a photograph. But the story behind of this island is very heartbreaking.

The islands you see are Keluang Island and Tsunami Island. From some internet sources, no one has uncovered the secret of why this island is called Keluang Island, but according to information, Keluang island has been around since the 15th century before The Kingdom of Daya founded *(I will tell this kingdom in another post)*. How about Tsunami Island? According its name, it must be associated with the Tsunami Disaster in Aceh on December 26, 2004 ago. Yeah, this island was formed after a big disaster here and claimed many victims. This island was once united with the island next to it. But the impact of the Tsunami waves made the land and finally formed its own island. It reminds me of the prediction of the San Andreas Cracks if it happens will make California separate. Hopefully it's not right.

These two island are very beautiful as objects of photography from a distance, these two islands are also the best and cheapest destinations in Aceh. Especially not many people know it yet. Why do I say the beauty after tsunami? This is because the two islands are increasingly famous after the Tsunami, because they are increasingly visited and exhibited as a wealth of tourism in Aceh Jaya. Formerly only known by local people. The island is located in Jaya Subdistrict (Lamno) or 78 kilometers from Banda Aceh City and you can reach it without the hassle because there are several boats ready to take you there in just 20 minutes, the distance to this island is around 2.3 kilometers.

Without having been sitting here for two hours, enjoying this view made me feel at home for a long time here. Who is not amazed to see a scene like this, if you do not like it, ask how hard your heart is. If I enjoy all of this more, of course I will late at my destination, so at another time I will tell you about the Kingdom relics that I mentioned above, according some information, the scenery there no less interesting. Dua pulau berbeda berada dalam satu foto. Hmm. Indah bukan ? Ya, untuk sementara ini aku hanya bisa menikmatinya dalam sebuah karyaku sendiri. Aku berharap menyambangi kedua pulau ini suatu hari.  Setiap pelintas jalan menuju arah Pantai Barat Selatan di Aceh pasti mengenal kedua pulau ini sebagai objek yang menarik untuk menjadi latar belakang sebuah foto. Namun cerita di balik keberadaan pulau ini sangat memilukan.

Pulau yang kamu lihat ini adalah Pulau Keluang dan Pulau Tsunami. Dari beberapa sumber bacaan saya belum ada satupun yang menyibak rahasia mengapa pulau ini dinamakan Pulau Keluang, Namun menurut infomasi bahwa Pulau ini telah ada sejak abad 15 sebelum berdirinya Kerajaan Negeri Daya (mengenani kerajaan ini akan saya ceritakan dalam postingan lain). Sedangkan Pulau Tsunami , maka sesuai namanya yang dikaitkan dengan Bencana Tsunami di Aceh pada 26 Desember 2004 yang lalu. Ya, Pulau ini terbentuk setelah terjadinya bencana besar yang banyak merenggut korban. Pulau ini dahulunya bersatu dengan pulau di sebelahnya. Namun hantaman gelombang Tsunami membuat memutuskan daratan dan akhirnya membentuk pulau sendiri.

Jika dari jauh terlihat kedua pulau ini sangat indah sebagai objek fotografi, Kedua Pulau ini juga merupakan destinasi terbaik dan murah di Aceh. Spesialnya adalah belum belum banyak orang yang mengetahuinya. Pulau ini terletak di Kecamatan Jaya (Lamno) atau 78 kilometer dari Kota Banda Aceh dan bisa menjangkau pulau ini tanpa perlu bersusah payah karena di bawah sana tersedia beberapa perahu yang siap sedia mengantarkan kamu kesana dalam waktu 20 menit saja, jarak tempuh ke pulau ini sekitar 2,3 kilometer.

Tanpa sudah dua jam saya duduk disini, menikmati pemandangan ini membuat saya betah berlama-lama disini. Semakin lama aku berada disini maka semakin lama pula aku sampai ke tempat tujuanku, jadi di waktu yang lain aku akan bercerita tentang peninggalan kerajaan yang aku sebutkan di atas, menutut beberapa informasi pemandangan disana juga tidak kalah menarik. Tsunami island is named by people here lately. In the past, the people live here. The name of village here is Gle Joeng, the island fused with the island on the left, but when tsunami comes, this island separated for the main hill.

I will NEVER forget that tsunami day.   We, like so many in Thailand that day, lost friends.  But it pales in comparison to the terrible loss of life in Aceh.  It feels soft and nice knowing there's a permanent memorial, if you will.  Nice photos and nice to learn something new about the world this morning.  Best wishes from Chiang Mai.

Dear @khaimi,

I love your story but, I think what stuck me most was that: there is always a silver lining in everything that happens. In this case, the same tsunami which claimed a lot of lives created another island which people these days enjoy.

I do not want to believe in this principle but perhaps, after chaos and destruction, creation always follows.
