# Four things that create good Christian unity’s 

### 1. Source 

* Ephesians 4:3, the Holy Spirit is our source of unity. He is the giver of our unity. 
* 1 Corinthians 12:13, there is no difference in unity. A true pure of unity can only come from H.S. It is what gives us life. Without the spirit, we would be very similar to clones. In reference to the body of Christ, think of those building a building to reach heaven. They were unified, they had a vision, but there was no God. Their reason wasn’t Godly so God brought on division.

### 2. View
* Ephesians 4:13, the unity we pursue is the unity in truth. Example, bring together a strong viewed feminist and a traditionalist view of a role of women and you will see on this topic they cannot agree. 
* In reference to the church, in truth there is Christian unity. Keep in mind it isn’t just shared truth, but it cannot be less than that.
* Philippians 2:2, unity and the importance of it. 
* Romans 15:5 and in reference to the previous bulletin point, Christ-centered. Not focused on Christ cannot be unity nor can the church be the body of Christ without our focus, without a message, and without our vision leading back to Christ. 
* Our view is our truth and that is what brings us together. 

### 3. Affection
* Galatians 6:10, a commitment to do good for the family of God. Even if you don’t like them. Especially to those in the house of the Lord, especially in church, and we need to take care of our brothers/sisters. 
* We may hold the same truth, we may believe in the Holy Spirit, our differences may still cause conflict or challenges to unity. 
* Romans 12:10, love with genuine affection. You show them with action more so than action. 
* There is no love without truth and there is no truth without love. If you have all love, but no truth than you go astray and become complacent. If you have all truth and no love then all you have is judgment and no grace. 
* 1 Peter 1:22, biggest formula for unity: spirit plus truth and plus love. Let’s keep in mind those we cannot love for whatever reason. Know your limits with this person. Unless they are in the church, especially if they are serving with you, and keep in mind your dislike of them is how you love Christ. During these times we need to pray for God to provide the love and overcome those challenges. Be honest these moments are generally prideful stumbling blocks you need to overcome. 

### 4. Aims 
The reason for unity. John 13:34-35, a spirited rooted, Christ manifesting, truth cherishing, sincere love/loving, unity is designed by God to have at least two aims. 

First, to witness to the world and second for the glory of God. John 17:21, that the disciples are in the father and the father in them so the world will see God in them. It’s not our human effort, although that must be there, if we are constantly building up our relationship with God then our fellowship with man becomes easier. 

This is more than common interest with people. It is more than interest in faith. It is unity through transformation and hunger for more. John 17: 22-23, as the saying goes the best form of evangelism is unity in Christ. Romans 15:5-7, our reason for doing this is to glorify God. 

Practical applications. To seek the fullness of this unity through the help of the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:18, often do we fill ourselves with other things that aren’t the Holy Spirit. Such as wine, tv, games, career, and anything else. If we are lead by the Spirit, then we are filled with of the Spirit, and then you’ll seek and speak the truth. 

2 Peter 3:18, grow in the knowledge of the truth. We can’t share and be united in the truth if you don’t know what truth is. 

It’s hard to love those outside our bonds. Meaning outside of those we call family, friends, and then those outside of that. It’s hard to tell our feelings how to feel, so we must tell our spirit what to do and lead our hearts. 

Like a chocolate cake, when the world tastes or sees Christians they should taste/ see Christ. They should see the glory of God. They should see the final product. They shouldn’t see or taste the flour, the butter, nor any ingredient that makes up the chocolate cake. 

Be united so that when people look at you they see a beautiful delicious pie that tastes like one too. Don’t be the beautiful pie that looks great, but was made with salt instead of sugar.
