Without you even knowing it you can be sufforing from B12 definciency. There are  symptoms but doctors will not always immediately recognize it. Only after a bloodtest it can be discovered.

There is plenty B12 in milkproducts,  meat, meatproducts, fish and eggs, so vegans will have an increased chance to suffor from b12 definciency unless they take B12 suplements.

I recently found out that I suffor from B12 deficiency, not because I am a vegan. I love sushi and meat so the thought of that never crossed my mind.  There are multiple reasons for a B12 deficiency. It can be caused due to a infection with Helicobacter pylori bactery, surgery to the small intestine, stomach surgery, decreased stomach accid or medication use, alcohol abuse or people from 50 years and older.

I found out because my daughter was not feeling well, She was tired all the time and she had these terrible moodswings. One minute she was fine and the next she could burst into tears. First of all we thought it was because of the birthcontrole pil she started using. That can do a lot to the hormones so she went to the doctor for another pill. The symptoms however stayed. It is horrible to see you daughter going through all these emotions and you can do nothing about it. So we made another doctors appointment. He decided to do a bloodtest and voila...B12 deficiency. We both were glad to know what caused all the symptoms.

Since I had some (other) symptoms (at first I thought it was because of meno pause)as well I decided to run for a bloodtest also, it turns out that in a lot of cases B12 deficiency is genetic.  The symptoms I had were blurry vision, feeling tired but not bein able to sleep, tingling or a numb feeling in my fingers, not being able to concentrate, moodswings, loss of strenght in my arms and leggs and virtigo. Guess what... I have it also, so for the next 10 weeks I am receiving B12 shots and we will see from there, maybe I only need suplements and in the worst case scenario I need shot every few months for the rest of my life.

If you suffor from multiple symptoms like the ones below, Go see your doctor for a bloodcheck.

<b>Neurological:</b>
*tingling burning or numb feeling in hands/feet arms and leggs,  nervepains
*Feeling like you are walking on clouds
*Not bein able to concentrate, memory loss
*trouble with finding the right words, using the wrong words
*bumping into things, loss of direction, falling for no reason, knocking things over
*loss of taste and smell , reduced sense of pain

<b>Psycological:</b>
*Feeling depressed
*Feeling nervous
*Moodswings
*Behavioral changes
*Confusion
*Paranoia

<b>Other symptoms:</b>
*Loss of strenght in arms, hands and leggs
*Feeling weak or tired (but not being able to sleep like I do
*Virtigo
*Loss of apetite
*nauseousness
*Pale skin
*Feeling cold all the time
*Blurry vision (I have this also so maybe I don't need my glasses anymore)
*Hairloss
*Incontinence or the need to pee a lot
*muscle cramps

I am so happy that a lot of my symptoms can probably be solved.In case you have some of the symptoms, I hope this atricle will help you recognize so you can do something about it as well.
