She loved to explore and experience new things irrespective of the risks and consequences they came with them.

Yes, you could say she was a very inquisitive child. Harley hated this environment she was getting bored from staying at home with her parents at Houston, Texas. She didn’t want to attend summer classes this period.

>'Why Harley? Your friends will also be around and y’all will have so much fun'. Her Mother asked. 

>'Yes mum but classes will be boring and my friends are just going to talk about the same old thing, they keep talking about boys, new and stupid pranks and much how they want to buy this and that. I ain’t in for such a summer break'.

Her mother smiled. She knew her child was not in equal sense like everyone other random child, there was something distinct about her.

She reasoned and talked so maturely. Joy and gladness filled her heart as she saw Harley climb upstairs to her room when she was done with dinner. 

>  'Mum, please hurry up and come sing me to sleep' she would request with those cute blue eyes and the prettiest of smile that came with just a dimple on the left cheek.

Well yes, she acts like she is a 20 year old lady and got everything figured out but she is still very much a 12 year old girl who still needs a mother’s love and pampering.

Plans and arrangements were made for her to go spend the summer hols with her aunt who stayed 12 hours away from home.
 
Aunt Halliday was a  business lady, an influential and wealthy woman whose very footstep was made of money. But she always had time for her kids, maybe it kept the loss of her husband away from her sanity- a happy widow.

*“Oh Harley sweetheart!*

She received her with so much warmth and a passionate hug. She had not seen her in ages. Aunt Halliday was Harley’ favorite aunt. She loved her not just because of the oval shaped face that had the pleasure of giving her such cute cat green eyes, pointed nose and kissable lips and always partly covered with a long dark hair that flowed down to that hour-glass curvy shape of hers but also because she was a very hardworking lady.

Aunt Halliday had few but important meetings to attend to and her kids had summer classes waiting.
*'I’ll be back shortly'* said aunt Halliday. *I just need to go sign some documents*.

Harley understood and she was glad she was going to have the house to herself of course with the housemaids too.

Adventurous Harley quickly had breakfast and ran into Aunt Halliday’s study room. She has been here once but not all by herself.

Every shelf in the room had the category of book written over it. Harley reached for a couple of books and flipped through each, as she reached for a fifth book she saw a button. She was not sure for a moment what to do or where it led to but she wanted to find out. She looked to ensure no one was looking at her. She clicked on it.

A great grip of fear knocked her down to the ground as it opened to a passage way. She grabbed the closest torchlight and looked for a switch. She did find it. Once she stepped in the door closed behind her.

She walked down the passage way to another door and found out it was an exit route. She opened the door and stepped outside. She was faced with long thick trees. She saw the pathway that led to the roads but a cry distracted her. 

>>How is that possible? Who could be stuck in this forest? She thought to herself. Again she heard it again.
Someone might be in danger she thought. With a little bit of fear, she followed the sound of the cry. 

The closer she came, the louder the cry.

Silence…

The cry stopped.

'Hello! Is anyone there? Hello! Where are you?'
____
No one replied.

She was getting cold and could not breathe properly. Her lungs were failing. Her inhaler was left behind. 'Curse this asthma' she thought.

She had to return back to the house. Struggling to breathe she turned around, then suddenly turning to listen for the voices, she turned to see whose they were but saw no one.

The fear that gripped her heart propelled her feet, running as fast as she could

# .... Ahhhhh! 


The ground received her aching body as she hit her foot against a stone. Despite the pain and the bleeding, she rose up with fear in her heart and as she ran towards the house. A dead alive creature with two legs and two hands stood few miles from her reaching forth towards her. She screamed and turned the other way the only way was the forest, as fast as her fear could take her, straight into a pit she thought was solid ground.

Sensing the pending danger, she cried out,  *No!!! Help!!! Aunt Halliday!!! Someone help me!!!!!*
She screamed for help. Laughing voices she heard. No! it can’t be! She could feel them right behind her. Fearfully craning her neck and widening her eyes, they were accompanied with a loud scream. Harley felt faint as creeping arthropods and dead bodies fed on her dripping blood to come back to life.
The last thing she knew was her struggle to break free. 

The land was cursed. The smell of a young child’s blood in the forbidden forest unknown to Harley had awakened the dead bodies that were dumped, murdered and used as sacrifice years ago by occupants who once lived in that area.

Their spirits never rested. They needed the blood of a young child to resurrect back to life and revenge. If only Harley knew, if only she had not clicked the button, if only she left the passage way once she knew it was an exit route.

Harley was the perfect sacrifice.
