Trump isn't letting a measely impeachment vote get him down. Here was a tweet from this morning:

Immediately people are bitching. The Pubs are angry that included in this bill is funding for planned parenthood, funding for the CDC to do research on guns, just the general idea of an omnibus bill which Trump said he was against previously, and more.  And the Dems are making fun of Trump for misspelling "smoking" as "smocking" on the first go around. 

So nobody is happy, par for the course.

Trump-hater-in-Chief, Adam Schiff, is pretty excited about the gun research part. So I guess all the politicos are working together on this one:

100 Americans killed by guns a day sounds like a lot. So I went to ye olde wiki to see if that was true. Turns out there is a whole article about it:

So... 2/3 of gun deaths are suicides. That's definitely an issue, but I'm not sure it's a gun issue. In those cases guns are simply the tools used. If we wave a magic wand and remove guns from existence, I don't think that number would change very much. 

The 11 thousand gun homicides are also an issue. Primarily between young, poor men in gangs. Just like Al Capone and friends turned Chicago into a warzone during alcohol prohibition, so too do the gangs of today fight it out to control the incredibly profitable prohibited drug trade. The easy way to fix that is to end prohibition, the same as it was for alcohol. I know, I know, the statists don't want you to be able to control what you choose to put into your body.

So, if we are talking about one person killing another outside of gang violence, how many deaths are talking about? It looks like something on the order of about 2,000 per year. In a country of 320-something million people, that's... not a lot. Individual tragedies to be sure, but very rare in the general population. 

In my own life, I've known two entire families to be murdered. In one case, the ex-husband hired a hitman to murder his ex-wife, child, and mother-in-law. In the other case, a man living with his brother's family lost his damned mind and murdered them all. I hope they both rot in hell, but again, I'm not convinced that guns are really the root issue here.
