The last couple of years have consisted of shuffling synths, effects and other gear in and out of my studio, looking for the right combination of equipment to get great sounds fast. So much so that I joking called it my "synth flipping business" last year. If I had unlimited funds, it probably would have gone much differently. But, things being what they are financially, I had to stick to a pretty tight budget. There's no shortage of gear to choose from in the low budget range either. As with the other cost ranges, it's a matter of finding out what works for me. It's a serious hunt, too. The struggle is real!!! And, I am finally super happy with what I have at this point! It took over 2 years of testing and reselling gear to get it to this point. And I'm really happy to say, there's not much left to ponder in terms of what else I can add. I've run out of recording channels on my Zoom R24, and also money $! Suffice to say that I build a veritable mountain of recordings during that time. Most of which will be released as time permits. One thing I have not been able to get around to much is mixing all of those recordings. I am currently putting together an EP of some of those tracks, which should be available sometime in the next few weeks. More about that in another post. In the meantime, here are some pics of my studio that I took today:  The centerpiece of my studio is this custom framed poster of the Milky Way galaxy. My studio is actually the centerpiece of my living room! I'm a single dad, so I get to put all my gadgets right in the middle of the house for all to see! :D Gear pictured: Presonus Eris 5 monitors; Zoom R24 multitrack recorder; Korg Monologue synthesizer; Alesis M1 Active monitors. I wanted to share a detail from the frame around the poster, because it's got something cool I made on it. An Astrolabe!  If you don't know about Astrolabes, just wait! It's another interest of my, for another Blog... Here's a pic of what I call my "rhythm section". You're looking at a Korg Kaossilator Pro+ running through a Kaosspad Quad. These two gadgets, while very limited, provide instant access to great sounds that also interact with your physical movements on a touchpad.  Being much more of a producer than a musician, I really like the immediacy of the Koass series from Korg. In fact, if I had to give up all the other gear in my rhythm section, the Kaoss gear would probably be one of the last to go. It's that good! But, as with any musical equipment, it has to work for you. Other gear pictured: Yamaha DTX 12-Multi; Roland SP-404A; Akai Rhythm Wolf; Novation Circuit; Behringer Xynyx 1002B mixer. I know electronic music is just going to get more popular, and we are indeed living in the Golden Age of Synthesizers right now!!!
