I know I probably come across as a Tesla fanboi... but I'm really not. Tesla do a ton of things wrong, but I can see that's naturally going to happen when you're trying new things and not just following the 'way things have always been done'. It drives me crazy though, when there is just article, after article, after article about Tesla's failures or perceived failures. This week is a perfect example, last week a man was killed in Florida when his Tesla hit a truck. It appears that he had autopilot engaged... and that is terrible. It's awful whenever someone is injured or killed. This meant that the $TSLA share price plummeted and there is just absolutely massive amounts of bad press. The thing is though, that the Tesla autopilot is constantly improving. It's definitely not perfect, but it's getting better all the time, and because it's a neural network, every issue, every accident, every time anyone takes over from the Autopilot makes it better for everyone. It's still a tragedy that a man was killed, but the silver lining is that his accident will make all the cars safer. This week Tesla finalised the purchase of Maxwell Batteries, which will help them make much cheaper batteries that last longer. The efficiencies in their production process will be massive, and the benefits to consumers will be huge, it's a really exciting acquisition... but no one in the media cares at all. The thing that really gets me is that so few companies are trying to change entire industries to help the environment... and instead of helping, supporting and championing a company that is trying to make a difference - everyone's trying to tear them down so that a few super rich share market guys can make a quick buck. It's super frustrating.
