Two years ago I published [Solving Food Production Crisis (STarvation) in Africa with Artificial intelligence in Agriculture](https://steemit.com/steemthought/@oluwoleolaide/solving-food-production-crisis-starvation-in-africa-with-artificial-intelligent-in-agriculture) on the Steem Blockchain and ever since I have been looking at how local farmers struggle to optimize their food production output against input and invested resources. I know this because a close friend of mine is into full time farming, and recently he lost all his poultry birds to an epidemic.




Once again I quote this old African saying ; "When starvation is removed from abject poverty, Poverty is done!"



Feeding is one of the utmost problem billions of people below the poverty line are facing. A starved population is malnourished and is defunct of thinking and performing productively.


AI in Agriculture is the real deal, but many farmers in the remote parts of the World could benefit from this Technology? Fact is, illiteracy is another challenge that comes with this advancement, how do an uneducated and uncivilized mega-farmer embrace AI to improve his farm yield?




Technologies like Vertical farming are fantastic in executing projects and the little knowledgeable farmers understands that tiny spaces are no more challenges, they understand that with a click of a button there is something that has been put in place that regulates the temperature as well as give the crops the necessary watering it needed to grow and start producing fruits.



>It is possible for machines to learn to solve any problem on earth relating to the physical interaction of all things within a defined or contained environment Hypothetically...........*by using machine learning plus artificial intelligence.*

>Artificial intelligence in this scenario is one where a machine can read its environment, and through a certain capacity of flexible rationality, take action to solve a specified task related to that environment. Machine learning is when this same machine, according to a specified set of algorithms and protocols, improves in its ability to address problems and goals related to the environment as the statistical nature of the data it receives increases. Put more plainly, as the system receives an increasing amount of similar sets of data that can be categorized into specified protocols, its ability to rationalize increases, allowing it to better _predict_ on a range of crop production.

But a farmer in remote regions needs an interpreter to tell him what to do, what the charts says about is farm and crops, provided he didn't consider such technology on his farm as "Haram" translated as Abomination.



Education to some of these farmers is a taboo, and this is a far greater challenge considering the population of uneducated farmers to the educated ones, the ratio is too significant hence sensitizing this larger percentage of farmers about the benefits of AI in Food Production is a task/goal as well as improving agriculture with this technology.


  
Unfortunately, the Government is not ready to sponsor local uneducated farmers who happens to be the largest food and crop producers in my country and several other countries in Africa. This is a challenge I have seen and hopefully this is eradicated or at the least minimize.
