Hello from the first week of the new season of the crypto academy,
I hope a very good season awaits us. Our first lesson this week is a very up-to-date topic and it became a subject that I was excited about as soon as I saw the title. It has been very enjoyable for me to research and examine this subject, which is shaking the world, in detail. For this reason, I would like to thank my dear professor @wahyunahrul for this beautiful lecture and for this current and exciting topic he has chosen.

**1). Do you think the Metaverse is "the next level of Future Technology"? Explain your personal opinion by showing some evidence.**

In the past weeks, with Mark Zuckerberg's **Meta** announcement, the agenda on all social media platforms was **Metaverse**. While media such as Twitter and Reddit are full of Metaverse-related content, I have constantly come across videos related to this term on Youtube. There was a reference to the movie ["Ready Player One"](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1677720/) in one of the [videos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWKTFQ_4LCg&ab_channel=EvrimA%C4%9Fac%C4%B1) I watched. I think it was this movie for me that best-explained **Metaverse** and made the concept clearer. If you haven't seen this movie, I highly recommend watching it.
Well, if we ask what is the Metaverse affects the agenda so much, we can summarize it as the transition of the internet from **2D** to **3D** in the simplest terms. It really looks like a science fiction movie, isn't it? What we need for this is **virtual reality (VR) tools**. Virtual reality tools came into our lives a few years ago and there are games played using these tools. With Metaverse, you can meet and hold meetings with people from various corners of the world using these **VR tools**. To do this, people will need to create avatars for themselves. In today's technology, we can chat with people online and our identities remain anonymous. In this concept, we will be able to meet with our avatars, dance together and travel to various corners of the virtual world. Maybe our characters will be divided into virtual and real characters. This is the psychological dimension of the situation, of course.
About 20 years ago, if someone had told us that we could video chat and share photos with anyone we want, whenever we want with smartphones, I'm sure that this would seem like a very utopian event to many of us. But it goes without saying how much this has gotten into our lives and become ordinary in today's technology. We'll probably have similar feelings for **Metaverse** years from now.
**Metaverse** technology cannot be realized with current technology. Even in Mark Zuckerberg's **"Meta"** announcement, this was often emphasized. For this reason, there are some who see Metaverse as a marketing strategy for selling virtual reality tools that are not realistic. After the concept of Metaverse was mentioned in the books in the 90s, there have been many developments in the last 30 years and I think that this concept is getting closer every day.

But in my personal opinion, years from now, **Metaverse** will level up technology just like smartphones. The fact that a technology giant like **Facebook** invests so much in this technology is perhaps concrete proof that Metaverse is the technology of the future. Of course, Facebook is not the only institution investing in Metaverse.
The founder of the **Fortnite** game announced in **Epicgames** that they will invest $ 1 Billion for the upcoming Metaverse. It was also learned that in Epicgames' lawsuit with Apple, Epicgames earned $9 Billion between 2018/2019. This information has something to do with Metaverse in the following respect. **Fortnite** is a game very close to the concept of **Metaverse** with current technology. Most of this income was obtained by purchasing in-game items. When the Metaverse technology reaches the desired level, people will want to buy these items for the avatars they have created or will want to participate in paid events. I will explain this in more detail in the next question. But as you can see, when the Metaverse project is fully implemented, huge sums of money will be spent in this system. So the Metaverse will be a new source of income within capitalism.

Significant proof that Metaverse will be the technology of the future can be foreseen from the fact that large companies enter a fierce race to **monopolize** this issue. However, it is not only **giant technology companies** that take steps in this regard. The **South Korean government** established the **Metaverse Alliance** in May 2021. More than 200 companies, including **Samsung**, participated in this union. In other words, as it can be seen, not only companies but also countries have already started their preparations to take a place in the Metaverse universe.
**2). Explain why Metaverse and Blockchain are compatible technology pairs.**
**Decentralization** is very important for the metaverse dream to come true. The decentralization was achieved with **blockchains**. **Decentralized blockchains** have revolutionized the internet world. Thanks to blockchains, we have the chance to disable 3rd institutions such as banks. In addition, the applications we use with **dApps** are also decentralized. For example, when you post a tweet on Twitter, Twitter may remove that tweet without your consent, and even worse, central applications may close your accounts. With **dApps**, your content in an application will be completely under your control.
Metaverses are actually virtual universes. When we want to have something in these universes, we can provide it with **NFT.** A good example of this is ***"Beeple's Everydays: The First 5,000 Days"*** NFT. As is known, this NFT was auctioned for **$69.3 million.** This work is a collage of 5000 pictures. The buyer of the work is **Vignesh Sundaresan**, a software developer and crypto investor. Sundaresan, on the other hand, presents 5000 pictures of this work in a **digital gallery**. The name of this digital gallery is **"The Metaverse".** In the future, we can buy the clothes of our own avatar as NFT by a famous designer and have an architect design our house in the virtual world as NFT. In other words, as can be seen, NFT and therefore blockchains are intertwined at the beginning of the road.

It is also possible to attend an event to be held in Metaverse with your hologram. For example, let's say you want to attend a concert of a world-famous artist that will be held on Metaverse. You can pay the fee for this concert instantly and easily with crypto money. In other words, in these virtual universes that will occur, it is highly possible that you will make your payments with coins/tokens, which are products of blockchains.
**3). Choose a Blockchain-based Metaverse project and do a fundamental analysis of the project (Don't choose projects that have been discussed in the discussion above). (Screenshot Required)**
I have said in previous questions that the metaverse and blockchains are already intertwined with each other. Even though Metaverse technology is in its infancy, for now, some **blockchain-based Metaverse projects** have already begun to emerge. **Aavegotchi** is one of these projects. One of the most important factors in choosing this project is that I am from the 90s generation and this project gave me nostalgia. If you are close to me, I am sure you have fed virtual animals (also named **Tamagotchi**) in your childhood. This project is named after these virtual animals. The **Aavegotchi project** is a project that combines **Ethereum-based Defi** and **NFT** projects. Aaavegotchi combines NFT and Defi and also offers its users a gamified Defi.
It is a project that aims to both play games and generates income by staking GHSTs, which are native tokens in the Aavegotchi project. To create a character, you need to stake GHST tokens. After collecting Aavegotchi from a bazaar or portal in the project with staking GHST, we give this Aavegotchi a unique name. Afterwards, this is a game where we can increase our rarity by enlarging our gotchis, dressing them up and increasing their XP. In other words, we can say that it is a game where we will take care of them and raise them just like the virtual animals we had in our childhood.

The native token of this project is the Aavegotchi **(GHST)** token. At the time of writing this article, this token was ranked 377. The price of the token is 2.27 USD and its market cap is 149,662,362 USD. GHST token is listed on major exchanges such as Binance, Kucoin, Mandala Exchange, OKEx

**4). Explain the steps for connecting a crypto wallet with a Metaverse project that you chose in question number 3. (Screenshot Required)**
Connecting your wallet with **Aavegotchi** is quite simple. There is a *Connect Wallet** section at the top right of the page at [aavegotchi.com](https://aavegotchi.com/).

After clicking Connect Wallet, you will see a screen like the one below. Here you can connect to Aavegotchi with **MetaMask, WalletConnect, Portis or Wenty Wallet.** Since I have **Trust Wallet** (WalletConnect compatible) installed on my phone, I will continue the transaction with WalletConnect.

After selecting ConnectWallet from the options that appear on the screen, the QR code appears on the screen.
After scanning the QR code in the Trust Wallet application and giving approval, your wallet is connected with Aavegotchi.

After connecting your wallet, your screen in Aavegotchi is shown as below. After connecting my wallet, I can now visit the bazaar and buy Aavegotchi. Of course for this I need to have some GHST in the first place.

**5). Explore the Metaverse of your choice and show the various features, advantages, and other unique things of the Metaverse project. (Screenshot Required)**
The basic principle of **Aavegotchi** is you build character by staking some **GHST** tokens. In return for this stake you make, you earn a profit. The profit you get from this stake increases as you play the game.
For those new to the project, Aavegotchi has a **Wiki** page for just about anything you can think of, from learning how to play the game to frequently used terms.

It is possible to buy GHST tokens on Aavegotchi. But this requires **KYC verification**.

As we have seen, you can earn by staking in the Aavegotchi universe. It is possible to earn FREN when GHST is staked. In the screenshot below, you can see how much profit can be made by staking GHST. FREN's cannot be purchased with money, you can only earn FREN by staking. You can use the FREN's you earn to enter battles called Raffles. You can also buy parcels in the Aavegotchi universe. For this you need REALM. For REALM, you need to stake GHST.

As we have often mentioned while dealing with the subject of the **Metaverse**, we can increase the value of this avatar by purchasing rare items for the avatars we create. In Aavegotchi, it is possible to develop our character by purchasing a **wearable**. There are various sets for these wearables. There are different wearables for different sections, and their rarity also varies.

**6). Conclusion.**
Technology is growing at an exponential rate. The term **Metaverse**, which was mentioned in a book in the 90s, is getting one step closer to reality every day. The **giant technology companies** of the world are making very serious investments in **Metaverse** and **Virtual Tools** in order to achieve this. Metaverse has become seriously popular in recent days, with **Facebook**, one of the world's largest technology companies, changing its name to **Meta.** Metaverse is also compatible with **blockchains**, giving meaning to **NFT**s in particular. Being able to make payments with cryptocurrencies in the metaverse universe also makes the metaverse dream come true. Today, there are Blockchain-based Metaverse projects, and the projects have created their own tokens. However, although various steps have been taken on this subject today, the Metaverse has not yet been fully realized. There are many points that still need to be worked on. But maybe we'll discuss it together in the same discussion room in one of the Metaverse universes in the near future, who knows.
