Jazz myths of my youth: Charlie Christian

<p>I have been a guitar player and a jazz lover for most of my life. If you put together "jazz" and "guitar", what do you get? My rational answer would be "Django Reinhardt", or "Wes Montgomery". The answer of my heart, instead, is "<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Christian"><strong>Charlie Christian</strong></a>".&nbsp;</p>
<p>I don't know why, but I really loved this pioneer of swing and jazz guitar. Probably it depends on the neat sound of his electric Gibson. Or it's just because I listen his records when I was 14. ;)</p>
<p>Here is a record of Christian playing the classic "<em>Stompin' at the Savoy</em>" in the Benny Goodman Sextet. His<em> solo </em>is still marvellous for me.&nbsp;</p>

Now that man can play! For this style of music (jazz) I'd have to say my favorite is Bucky Pizzarelli (and not just because he's Italian). My hero growing up playing blues was always Hubert Sumlin from Howlin wolf's band.
