## <center>WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!</center>

Last weekend was an incredible time for a few steemians in the Ozarks as we had the Ozark Area Steemian Meetup followed by the [25th episode of the Steemit Talk Podcast](https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemittalk/steemit-talk-podcast-025-1-21-2017-featuring-special-in-studio-guests-papa-pepper-and-stellabelle). I wasn’t sure what to expect, other than a good time, but the whole thing really impressed me.

[My previous post was my recap on the meetup](https://steemit.com/recap/@papa-pepper/ozark-area-steemian-meetup-recap-post-from-papa-pepper), so this one will be on the podcast.

First off, I really hadn’t been exposed to the Steemit Talk Podcast before. Having limited internet access, I don’t often check out YouTube videos or Podcasts these days. I have enjoyed some in the past, like the Survival Podcast by Jack Spirko and Permacultures Voices by Diego Footer, but I never tuned in for the Steemit Talk Podcast. 

I figured that it would be best for me to at least check it out for a bit first, so I listened to most of Steemit Talk Podcast # 24 prior to driving up to the meetup. I at least wanted to be familiar with the general concept, if nothing else.

Secondly, I was glad to finally have the opportunity to join in on the podcast. Months ago @winstonwolfe had approached me about being a guest on the show, but at the time I had no headphones and no clue how to even do that over the internet. I was thinking that since the show is broadcast from Springfield, MO, which is only about an hour and half away from where I live, it would actually be easier for me to make the drive rather than try to figure out how to join in remotely..


In reality, this is what got to happen. Some time ago (near Christmas) @giftedgaia and myself had got to talking. I had already wanted to do a local meetup somewhere in my general area and also to try to make it up to the studio for a show, and @giftedgaia had some thoughts along the same line. He walked me through setting up my mic on discord and took the lead in planning the meetup by securing a location for the meetup and “rallying the troops.”

I think that it worked out incredibly well for multiple reasons. First, when you can interact in person, in the studio, there is a lot more “chemistry” if you want to call it that, and you can use body language to help guide the conversation. Additionally, since I had not met either @winstonwolfe or @giftedgaia previously, having the meetup ahead of time gave us a chance to get to know each other for a bit first, so it became more like hanging out with friends than talking to strangers.

Oh yeah, having the meetup first also allowed us to have another legendary steemian in the studio, @stellabelle. Having two in studio guests rather than one! I wondering if things would get a little crowded and if there might be people stepping on one another’s toes, but it went really well! I think this was also due in part to us all being able to hang out for some hours ahead of time too.

For those of you familiar with the podcast, you know that the goal is to have a “radio show feel” to it rather than a monologue podcast or something like that. To have relevant and lively interaction and witty banter can be much more entertaining anyway, and it was certainly right up my alley. For those of you *not* familiar with the podcast, I’d recommend following @steemittalk to make sure that you don’t miss any episodes, previews, or updates.

# <center>HILARIOUS</center>
I already mentioned in the Meetup Recap that these other steemians are extremely caring, helpful, and informational, but they are *hilarious* too! Personally, I thought that the interaction went very well.

We all had some different topics that we wanted to discuss, and a good portion of them did get covered. One of the main things that I wanted to mention was [STEEMSTOCK](https://steemit.com/steemstock/@riosparada/steemstock-2017-starting-to-grow-wings-but-will-it-fly) which is a Music & Art Festival coming up this October in Austin, TX which is being developed by @riosparada. Basically, the idea is to put together a concert/festival/event where “steemit-only” musicians play a concert and artwork from steemians is featured and perhaps sold. Anyone is welcome to attend, but the music and art will all be “steem-powered” by members of our community.

This project is still in the developmental stages, but @riosparada has recently lost his father and will be doing STEEMSTOCK in his honor, so whether it’s 10 of us or if 10,000 show up, it’ll be a go! That being said, I plan on attending, and perhaps even doing a bit of performing and showing off some artwork too. Also, I’ll be doing a promo post on the event in the near future to try to raise awareness and interest, and brainstorm a few ideas as well.

I think that the podcast is an excellent idea, and I’m glad that these guys have been working on it for so long. It broadcasts from and is recorded in the dwelling of @giftedgaia, and he’s got a really nice setup, in my opinion. @sykochica was the unseen member of the Steemit Talk Podcast team, because @sykochica recently moved out of Springfield. However, in this great day and age of technology and innovation, @sykochica is still a vital part of the show and is usually the one dropping the relevant links, images, and videos in the STP chatroom on discord while the show is on air.

After the official podcast, @stellabelle had to head back to the KC area, so it was just me in the studio with the guys for the post-cast. @mama-pepper even took her time picking be back up, so I got to participate in the whole post-cast before heading [back to the hotel to swim with the](https://steemit.com/til/@little-peppers/til-how-to-swim) @little-peppers.

I’m not sure how well I really did, with it being my first time and all, but the crew did thank me very much for my time and participation. Oh, I almost forgot, @papa-pepper doesn’t like to just show up, he likes to spice things up too! Therefore, I brought a bottle so we could do some shots on the air.

The bottle was Louisiana Hot Sauce, and although the label clearly states that one drop will do it, we had a lot more drops than that. For the first round during the podcast with @stellabelle, I went a little easy on the group.

However, for the second round during the post-cast, I filled the shot glasses a little more, because @giftedgaia and @winstonwolfe already had experience at that point. We were a little concerned initially because we didn’t want to mess up our voices, but Louisiana Hot Sauce is a decent one to shots of, as I’ve done *a lot* of research into the subject over the years. Overall, I was impressed with the group, as they did very well for first timers.
