Continue From "Sharpening Our Skills ....."

Today in our country Myanmar, we have been facing many social problems due to drug and alcohol abuse. Most of our families are suffering from difficulties and unnecessary loss of love one.

The number of youth in their 20s they are addicted to drugs or alcohol in Myanmar. So many youth and even teenagers are addict to alcohol and drug and bout 70 per cent of the consumed by youths was illegally.

They are start to using alcohol after drug and some are start to replaced heroin, and it is become the greatest threat for family as well as for country. Instead of injected heroin, now those youths are smoking methamphetamine pills. Methamphetamine is more popular than heroin around them because they do not have to be injected like heroin and more effective for them.

When we used Heroin, it will makes users drowsy, but when we used methamphetamine it can makes user to feel more energetic, that it why most of and youth and teenager are choosing methamphetamine pills to have more fun.

The United Nations Office report show that 10 per cent of the world’s opium are comes from Myanmar, according to their list Myanmar is second largest producer of the drug after Afghanistan. In year 2013, United Nations estimate that 870 tonnes opium produce by Myanmar alone.

Myanmar last government of Public health section is lacking of enforced regulations on advertising experts, they should control distribution and sale. Parents also should keep an eye on their children. We need to increase awareness and share the knowledge among young people of how dangers of drugs and effect.

It cannot be done only on the surface level, in picture our city and town are looks prosperous, peaceful and green in the TV and news. We should do and dig deeper though all the way into dark side and to undercurrent exists. Myanmar's northern Kachin State is one of the major heroin trading. In their state most of the family has suffering from this drug problem, I guess more than 50 percent of young people are using drugs.

To educate and sharing will be a more effective way to get the message across the country. To wipe out the drug problem is almost impossible in the world, but our children is our future and it is one of the best investment for the world.

But drug and alcohol may bring about the downfall of our country in every sector. We need everybody support to sprite the knowledge around the country as nation campaign.
