The way back machine on @pawsdog in the Land Down Under Australia

Australia, where everything wants to kill you. These would be from circa 2002, I will have to say that diving in Australia is off the chain. Especially freshwater diving provided you do not get eaten by a crocodile or run into what they call a freshie.. not sure I spelled that right but basically an alligator of sorts.

From my time there I determined that pretty much every animal in Australia wants you dead, with the limited exception of Wallabies and that is only due to their size as they would probably try and kill you as well. Toads will kill you, frogs will kill you, a kangaroo will beat the piss out of you, water buffalo will kill you, snakes will kill you and don't even get me started on all the spiders and other insects (centipedes, snails, etc) that want to kill you etc.

The birds will even kill you, they have animals from Jurassic park still walking around there like the Cassowarie a super pissed-off flightless bird that hates you and has the same loving disposition as a velociraptor. Oh' and lets not forget it can run 30 mph plus, jump 6ft and swim like Phelps, so your totally screwed no matter what you do. Grab a rock or stick and be ready to throw down with it is about your only option as escape on flat land is not going to happen.

I mean you really have to wonder about a countries wildlife when you see shark eating wild Dingos..

Other than the above it is probably one of the greatest places on earth; south of Japan that is.. Although the American accent or lack thereof does not play nearly as well with the fairer sex as it does when an Aussie is in the US.

Freshwater diving in an abandoned pit mine, only after did we find out it had previously been used for silver and the water contained cyanide. Of course when you are young, fail to head warning signs and go driving a truck through fences and whatnot to find a cool place to dive that happens. Now that I think about it, that explains why there were no critters in the water.

Everything is bigger in Australia, this is a termite mound.. You could total your vehicle if you hit it head on.

Most likely the best beer on the planet, 4x Gold.. Miller and Budweiser have nothing on this stuff. It's not bad warm either...

Hey dude, can you change one of your tags to TeamAustralia?  It'll help the kids find this hilarious entry to our peaceful little slice of planet.

Freshie is the exact right spelling... I lived in the city of Melbourne, and it still took me a year of US living to not constantly scan the ceilings of rooms for spiders or check my socks every morning.

You didn't even mention the jellyfish.. you can't even go swimming for a quarter of the year.  The Cassowarie is a nut.  I forgot about that guy.  I'm glad you got to see that friendly little fella in action.

Yes box jellyfish, and Blue ringed Octopus.. They will kill you too..

Not just regular jellyfish you guys have Deadly ‘invisible’ jellyfish (Irukandji jellyfish) .02 inches in size. .. that once again will kill you.. Its a beautiful place though.. hope to go back someday...

This is true, for the most part.. we were ehh' to them... granted I was a buff young Marine at the time.. but mehhh'' at best.. an amusement, club girls are club girls.. but nothing like the Phillipines or Thailand were we were viewed as a ticket to the land of the big PX...

You know, after seeing this, Australia has just become that more awesome.  Between dudes boxing Kangaroo's, and Kangaroo's going up against the glass sliding door, it really doesn't surprise me that everything wants to kill you there, lol.  So what you're saying is, Australians are true survivors.  Legitimately escaping death every day.  That termite mound though.  I had never researched a termite mound, so I've certainly learned something today!

yeah, you have to be a survivor to make it in Australia.. lol.. cool place though, super cool.. I had a blast there I was stationed on RAF Base Tindell near Darwin.. Middle of no where but we had a good time..
